I love this glimpse of your harvesting, baking and winning of best pie. I am loving the apples this year and have 17 trees filled with beautiful apples. I have been making lots of apple~cherry chili jam and cobblers.
I am hoping to gather and store a big box for making pies come Christmas. Bravo, j

Both your poem and your picture are gorgeous, Sally.
I love this line:
a pie was their fate, I declared.
Thanks so much for sharing and good luck in the contest.

"The Apple Path", is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. To me, this is a six, but I've run out of them. I very much look forward to seeing your next post.

This is a luscious poem, Sally. I cannot imagine a more pleasant walk than one down to the orchard. Then you bring in pies and fairs. Simply delightful.

Well done. Loved the picture and I missed the heart design earlier. This was a delightful read. I need to get back and write something. Feeling a bit dead atm.

Gosh this takes me back. Ancient weights, and pie competitions at the fair! You have succeded in producing a poem that is a jogger of simpler times, happy memories.
Just one niggle:
dare and declared is not a true rhyme. Could you use declare without losing the syntax?

Thank you for the excellent review and kind compliments. I appreciate your helpful critique, too. My poetry mentor says dare and declare are a near rhymes, which is acceptable as long as it fits
within the flow. He is also a FanStory poet, and a published author who faithfully reviews and critiques my writings. I am blessed to have so many around me to offer help and encouragement. Thanks for joining in, Katherine.

Your delightful poem is ideal for apple-harvesting autumn, and apple pie is certainly a seasonal treat. A walk into an apple orchard to pick some for the purpose is a treat in itself.

It really was nice of the apple worms to have shoved their homes into a heart shape for that apt illustration. ;}}

I particularly like the way this ends:

The pie was so good, I baked one more,
the prize-winner named at the fair.

Superb.

Thank you so much for the honoring review and generous six star rating, Mike. Apples are my favorite fruit, so my heart of apples was the perfectly chosen illustration. I typically eat one every day. Thank you, again.

Yummy! Did you make this heart from apples and then take a picture? It's so cute! Your tale makes me want to bake a pie now! Apple pie is so good especially with a little cinnamon sugar crunch on topped! xoxo

Thank you for the excellent review and kind comments. I know you?re in the apple orchard right now aren?t you? I?m glad you enjoyed it and I look forward to Apple season more than any harvest of year. Sending my best today as always, Sally xoxo

My favorite are McIntosh. I love to make applesauce from those and Caramel apples aren?t as easy to eat these days, but I just cut them up and eat that way as life without those would not be worth living! Hahaha!!!

I can see why you LUGGED them. I had to mentally switch pounds to kilograms, and it still comes to a fair weight. I love this celebration of fruit and fruitfulness. I have just one suggestion... "to God above" is a bit of a cliche, which stands out in an otherwise original composition.

To me an exceptional, to my allotted rating allowance, an excellent. Fall is such a wonderful time to think of apples. I like the airy and carefree atmosphere brought on by your choice of words, and the picture is just perfect. Best wishes in the contest.
