Isn't Apfel a wonderful figure (an icon) of belief in self and never seemingly to care what others might think or say. Of course, as your poem alludes to, it's good to have a bit of good taste and style to go along with those beliefs in yourself. Loren

Hi Melissa, I love this poem which is quite a different take on the form. It's wonderful and so is the photo. She's wonderful. I have one concern, you've written a 5-6-5 poem. One syllable missing. I would hate to see it disqualified. Lots of regards. Ulla:)))

I love this, Melissa!! This picture reminds me so much of my friend's mom, who was a real-life artist! She was always SO fashionable and ahead-of-the-sartorial-curve, and sassy and cryptic and fun. Just as you stated here, every cell of her was ART. I'm going to print this out for my friend to see and enjoy for the same reason I love it! Excellent 5-7-5. xo

Great thought about life being art, and so true. You reference style, smile, and your writing and how you drink your tea. All those things say a lot about a person. I like the picture you chose. It appears that for this woman a lot goes into the details. It all adds up to make an individual. Great work, and all the best in the contest. judi
