I assure you, man is a social animal, and one who deserts or outlives his tribe and clan is sad creature indeed. I am not sure I understand the prompt, "Story poem/prose" but your poem makes sense. Excellent post.

I totally agree with you about the prompt! I didn't know what a story poem was, either! I've asked a couple of other members I respect, and they didn't really have a precise answer, either. So, I don't know. Hopefully it won't get disqualified before people can vote on it, I guess. But I've appreciated the feedback like yours, so the contest results would just be a bonus.

This well-written, uplifting poem about the cycle of life movingly describes the
stages, all having one obvious thing in common--being purpose-filled. Sometimes
younger people think that "golden" stage is mostly about losing one's purpose!

I even think I may have thought that when I was a whippersnapper. Now, of course, I see the folly of that! Three cheers for wisdom. Thanks for a very nice review, Janice.

I love the message in this poem. When young we think we have everything figured out. Everything is an adventure. As we age we forget perhaps, we have new focuses, and yet we long to return to our days of youth.
Wonderfully written!

Thank you, Green Jello! You have totally picked up every last sentiment I was trying to get across. It feels so good to be understood like that. xo
Comment from Reese Turner
Indeed! A good analysis. There are different goals at different areas of life. Now, this poem might need a couple of extra areas had I written; like surviving during my service during 'Nam or relative to the game of golf, but I think you reflected well on a life lived well. At my age, the candles cost more than the cake, but the love keeps me movin"!

Thank you for this enlightening review. Thank you, Reese. for helping to keep all of safe here back home. Your altruism is the greatest expression of love, in my opinion. xo

I like how you've explored the important things in life. This brings to mind the song 'the circle of life' from 'The Lion King.' Nicely done. Regards, Lou

Absolutely!!
And at this age...
to once again sneak the sweet things!
(have to sneak, because where once our parents
said 'no'...now our doctors do)
It is, as you said...a circle.
Loved this, good luck,
Blessings...

This is very well-written, and I love the picture. The point of life does change during our lives and seasons. It's up to us to find the right balance for the season. I love the point you bring out. Great job!
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

A very well-written poem and discovery of the point of life. Many people going through their whole lives without reaizing the most important point of life and never give attention to it, to love everyone including themselves and God above all.

Exactly, Sandra. A lifelong friend of mine lost her two-year battle with Lymphoma recently, and in her last few weeks, her favorite reminder to all of us who loved her was, "It really IS just all about love." It comes in many forms, but that IS the bottom line.

Dear Anonymous Poet,
Thank you for sharing your entry in the Story Poem contest. Yes, the 'point of life' changes as we go through the different stages of our lives. I think you did a wonderful job showing how the process grows.
Good luck to you in the contest,
~Mustang Patty~
