I haven't seen the snow fall for many years. It snowed a few times when I was a kid living in CA on the desert. What a treat. But it has not snowed in FL. =} I don't really want lots just a tiny bit once in a while. Great poem and picture. Hope you do well i the contest. Rox

Hello, Roxanne. Well, we have gotten one really good snowfall this year, and piddling amounts twice. I was just imagining the first few snowfalls in the woods. When the wind comes through the trees, it makes a swishing sound... Thanks so much for your delightful review.

This lovely poem in perfect Vallanelle form brought back many memories of the years I lived in the Rocky mountains of Wyoming. There is a special silence once a snow storm has ended that makes every little sound exaggerated and those sounds are beautiful. I always thought of them as nature talkin to me, but now I will think of it as singing.

What you've done differently from most is to paint your picture not just via adjectives but equally via your use of verbs. Snowfall "sings," vines "have wound," winter "swirls and dampens." Your strong verb choices enhance the visual image painted by the adjectives you use and the image you've included. All work together to form a very cohesive and enjoyable poem.
