This is a powerful and thought provoking poem Diane. The hatred, injustice and discrimination of African Americans is hard to fathom. You told their tragic story with great care.
Thank you for sharing.
Blessings

This is a wonderful telling of a sad and shameful story, and it's quite an accomplishment to have included so much information and emotion so clearly and smoothly while sticking to a specific syllable count and somewhat difficult rhyme scheme. I appreciate the additional information at the end, as this is a story we all need to learn and remember, to prevent its reoccurrence. Good luck in the contest.

This is a wonderful telling of those sad events. Your rhymes flowed well and you've expressed well the injustice of what transpired. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent Mrs. KT....I too read the story, or should I say the heartbreaking story. Such an atrocity...not only that it happened, but that it took 70 years to rectify. Hopefully, some of their families are still here to taste that glory. Unfortunately, we'll never really know how many others faced that same horrific fate.
Indeed....all life matters!
Good luck in the contest, no matter what format you used, it was an excellent read.

Injustice is a hard pill to have to swallow. And a posthumous pardon is a band aid on a gaping would inflicted onto the families - and onto society in general. How many generations have to suffer before we do see any sort of justice? Such a sad story, but it had to be told again as a reminder. Thank you for sharing something that should resonate today.

HELLO MRS. KT: I like your posting here in that it expresses so much truth. Not many people...especially women...would be truthful and bold enough to take the stand that you have taken here. But somebody had to do it...and you did. Thank you for sharing, Mrs. KT. You are appreciated. God bless you and yours. Cordially: rhonnie69.

How very sad! And even sadder is the fact that even nowadays there are more blacks in jail than whites.
There's a new book (and film) related to this topic that you would enjoy. It's called The Hate U Give.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Mrs. KT,
This is a really amazing poem. Did you realize that you killed two birds with one stone? It's too bad you couldn't enter it in two contests; Rhyming and Story in a Poem. You told the story very well and I really enjoyed reading it. :)
