This is a great little piece. It reads almost like a parable and is very well executed.

It started with me standing in front of a huge brick wall with no end in sight and extends into thick white clouds above.- this feels a little disjointed after the conjunction. perhaps something like 'with no end in sight, extending to the thick white clouds above.

All questions, I have no answer for. - I don't think you need the comma here.

Personally, I think I'd use steps instead of stair throughout.

I've always had an issue with the pearly gates, silver and gold images. It just doesn't feel very heavenly to me. Man's interpretation of beauty, perhaps?
