"I Always Thought" is an excellent title and beginning to your wonderful loop poem. The first line says it all in a nutshell. It's very difficult to write a good loop poem, and this is well done and made to look easy to do. I like the story you tell about two people, you and someone else you loved. I feel for the narrator, who is left alone, after spending a lifetime together, with a loved one. The image you chose is great and fits the piece very well. Thanks for sharing.

I recently lost my mother and your words speak volumes for how I feel at my loss. I somehow thought she'd always be here. Now I want to pick up the phone or pop in to surprise her and I can't. Hi there,
So sorry for you loss. I lost my mom in 2007 but it still feels like yesterday. All of the emotions and the feelings of loss never go away. Life does go on but it's never the same.

What a beautiful tribute. This is excellent. For a loop poem, you have far exceeded the format into something that is lovely and bittersweet and shows the strongest of emotion in your words. The flow is there, the essence of love and loss. Exceptional. Absolutely so.

Smooth cadence, excellent rhyming and a good cadence and flow, it says what it needs to say without coming across as sounding pretentious.
Alfred Lord Tennyson once wrote, "'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Well, I for one disagree. It is three times more painful having had love in your life only to have it slip forever from your grasp. You cannot miss what you never had.

I completely agree Dean. Loving someone and then losing them is heartbreaking. The heartache never really goes away whereas if you have never loved then you can never lose. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. Have a wonderful day.
