Today finally feels like autumn. It's been a warm fall so far. I hope we start getting autumn temperatures back. It's not suppose to be 90 degrees this late in September. Winter will be here before we know so we better enjoy these days.

I truly appreciate your taking the time to share "Appreciate This Autumn Day." Rod
Comment from Curly Girly
In cold climates, autumn can produce some of the nicest times of the year.
"Appreciate this autumn day
for soon we're gone. Au Revoir! Goodbye!"
Goodbye to all its warm splendour and glorious, rich, gold colours.
Lovely.

Hi Rod
You know, I didn't even realize there was a repeated line until I went back and read the rules. I re-read the poem and...voila!
Perhaps I'm tired, or you just concealed it so well among the other three lines.
I liked the way you compared Autumn, and your stroll through October woods to the colorful Mardi Gras. Imaginative! But so true. There's also some nice personification of the trees,
"Appreciate this autumn day
with trees that think it's Mardi Gras." ...they're right down there in New Orleans!
Nice alliteration here,
"Festooned in festive garb they shout"
and here,
"leaves crunching cry"
The repeated line is very effective,
"Appreciate this autumn day!"
The only way to truly appreciate Fall is to take a walk in the woods... but wear an orange hunting vest so you don't get shot by hunters who shoot first and ask later. Some people even shoot at a noise! That's scary, and would totally ruin a wonderful day in the forest.
Nicely penned, my friend! I enjoyed it.
Here in New Brunswick, the trees are starting to change colors... red, pink, orange, lime, yellow, and gold. Rainbow ridges.
cheers

You are way ahead of us here in Chicago. We worry that the leaves may not be too cheery this year because we've had very hot weather lately and no rain. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and thoughtfully comment on my poem. Rod

I didn't know who wrote this but thought whoever did knew what he/she was doing. Lol. Why, my assumption? One reason is that you didn't spell 'voila,' walah. Anyway, I thought it well done and right for now--the cooler days of autumn. I voted for it and hoped it would win.
I did have a thought about one place in the wording. "rove or stray." Since the words mean essentially the same thing, perhaps it would be better to say, rove and stray? No? Just a question, not a criticism, really. Anyway, nice poem.

I really liked this poem. I was in the contest as well, and if could have voted for another poem as well as my own, it would have been yours. Thanks for reminding me why fall is my favorite time of year.

Autumn offers wonderful weather to hike or stroll. It is the season of colors. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read.

This is a nice tribute to the season, very well written. I grew up in New England and miss this season most of all.
There is nothing nicer than an Autumn day and you described it well.
Thank you.

I love Autumn myself and also rue its quick passing. The topic spoke to me. I tis a well constructed poem and rhyme scheme consistent. The rhyme in the first verse of line 4 seemed a bit forced and broke the flow for me. Well done!

Where I live, autumn is the prettiest season (early October). I am delighted you enjoyed the poem and I appreciate the kind praise. Rod

Enjoy Ma Nature's jubilee,
outbursts of color, gay soiree,
her haute grandeur and elegance.
Appreciate this autumn day!' Beautiful and I enjoyed the french phrases you threw in it was a bit like 'be our guest' from beauty and the beast in that respect, otherwise a wonderful poem and you are right autumn is stunning but much too short. I love the season and this poem, well done kindest regards Meia xx

Something you can picture on rainy days to cheer yourself up. You follower the criteria. Your poem flowed and painted a picture. I like the crunch of Autumn leaves, to me that brought sound to the picture. Great job.
