I love Quentin Tarantino films. The music is outstanding.
Kill Bill Trilogy; Django; and earlier Reservoir Dogs and on.

Your essay on music in movies gives us a little view of the early music used with the silent films.(Imagine the girl on the railroad track with out the music. Can't do it.)

Then you brought us up to the future. League of Their Own is an excellent example. I noticed the music, too.
I hated Avatar, even with all of the fantastic animation. What were they thinking with the crappy music?

I'm out of this write for today. Can't think of a thing. Brain is on vacation. Too many poems made it run away.

I'll read everybody else's though.

Without music that fits, the movie is nothing, you are correct Mikey.

Some-one once said to me about a composer, "Oh he only writes music for films. He could not write a concerto." My response was. "A composer can write music that inspires him. But a composer who has to write music for a film is challenged. The music has to fit every scene, to be unobtrusive, but compliment and help set every nuance of the scene."

So I am in complete agreement with you.

We can all write concertos. Any good musician can write anything just like any good writer can write anything. We all have our strengths, but we're writers and musicians are musicians. :)) I thought this was one of the better topics. I enjoyed writing this. something different. Sorry the response is so late. Mr. Cahill, how very true this is. One of my favorite movies is Defiance with Daniel Craig. One of the most beautfiul and haunting scores of music I have ever heard. I am in agreement with Avator. I loved the movie but the music was jarring and disjointed. thank you for sharing.. jimi
