This 50 word short story utilizes tight concise writing to play up a potentially dark scene and ends with a flint of humor, as the visual switches from police staking out a home that someone may have called on because of all that blood on the front porch and door... to the real victim being perhaps a cow ... and a meat store... as a little dog runs off with his steak treat. That's a double steak/stake out.
Even under attack by gassing, that pooch wasn't going to give up his delicious food.
A nice mix of scene and exaggeration, this entry looks like it's got all its bases covered for being a strong contender. Cute puppy pic... check... dab of conflict, dab of humor ... check and check ... stable grammar and strong verb/ dialogue elements, double check.
Nice job with this.

How very cute! Great use of the 50 word mini-flash format to tell a story with a surprise ending, most smile worthy. The image should have given the plot climax away, but it didn't, so well done. Best of luck with the judges.

This is a fun and excellent shortie and my fave entry I've read so far.
Top twist at the end, but the artwork and 'definition' took the edge off it for me, as I expected a cute surprise.

I was afraid the picture might ruin the punch at the end for some, and I apologize. I noticed the contest with only a few minutes to enter, so I'll find a better picture and make a change.
