I always enjoy reading all your chapters, and of course, we can all can use a nice history lesson here and there to brush up on the things that seem to have slipped through some of our aging minds. Great chapter. :-)

I will search it out. I guess I need to do something like that. I am wondering who does your editing, Thank you for the kind review.
reply by Jacqueline M Franklin on 24-Apr-2016
    =I do my own editing.
=I refuse to pay the amount editors want, PLUS, I'm always tweaking here and there, so hard for someone else to keep up with me.
=I go over it pretty thorough, although, I'm sure there is a typo hear and there, but since I publish for my self-satisfaction, and not the begin all/end all, I'm okay with it.
= I love selling, don't get me wrong, but it isn't my main focus.
= I am SOOooo bad about marketing myself. I hate the aspect. I told Tom when he retires next year, he can do it for me. (*<*)

Okay, no matter how much I edit, I miss things. In my books I am a perfectionist, I don't want to put out there a less than perfect book.

Good chapter, Barbara.

My Child (child), be patience."

Instead of moving to the interior to shield the province's core, (no comma) around San Antonio from Comanche attacks, most Americans stayed east of the Colorado River."

This half was part of Mexico in name,(no comma) only."

Then(,) in 1834, a cholera outbreak wiped out most the remaining population."

"Didn't the Apache's (Apaches) side with the Texans?" asked Soni.

"Stephen F(.) Austin had sold the deeds to Gunter. It just needed to be finalized."

Ha! Once again leaving us hanging in suspense! Another good read and I love the history which is probably pretty non fictional! Now some spags and suggestions. My Child, be patien(t)[ce]."

I realize you folks customarily omit some joining words but just putting this in anyway...most (of)the remaining population."

Can't remember if you saw my new poem yet for give me if you did.

And the mystery deepens: "they arrived in February 5, 1933." [ That means he and Giselle arrived with a 101 year old baby. I hope she bottle-fed him.]

Excuse the above. I'm a little ditzy, having spent the entire day yesterday watching the grands. I know what you mean about how long it's taking to post this. It seems like Soni and Jim have been at the books and maps for over a month.

Thank you for catching my stupid mistake. You would be amazed how many people didn't pick up on it. LOL, but a bit scary.

Worth waiting for! Six stars worth. I really enjoyed the history component in this, and the explanations of how Texas was really divided into parts, with Americans in the Eastern part and those of Mexican-American descent in the West. Great reaction to Soni's comment about being patient. Interesting family background. Soni is wondering about what happened to the 125,000 unaccounted-for acres when the door opens. What more could possibly happen? You mention Gunter's arrival in 1933, but I believe you meant 1833. judi

Most excellent, easy flowing,
great dialogue and oh so intriguing.
I'm so anxious to continue on. This
is like watching a movie in instalments
although we don't have to wait a week
for the next episode. No nits or spags,
perfect as is. Lora
