You've taken the maxims "Love Thy Neighbor" and "Do Unto Others" back to its roots. . .artfully reminding us "Why do we think new wisdoms reign?

Nicely pondered :-)

You poem has some very wise words of wisdom and many would do well to heed them. Please and thank-you seem to be fading from our conversational speech. And in our head-long rush to get through our busy days, we seem to pay less and less attention to those around us.
The iambic tetrameter is strong in these AABB couplets- the only place I got hung on it was S2L3:
If folk deceived with kindness' face
if FOLK / de CEIVED /with KIND/ ness ES/ FACE
perhaps;
If folk deceive with kindest face
if FOLK / de CEIVE / with KIND / est FACE
As always - just a suggestion - yours to like or lose.
Rose.

Excellent poem, royowen. I especially like the line "For if one's skies were always blue- how could we read the false from true?" We must experience negative events in our life in order to have great ones, otherwise there would be nothing to compare them to. I think if we all put others first, this world would be even more beautiful. Great message sent across in this writing!

Hello Roy,
It's nice to see you... I hope you are well.

This, a lovely poem about, basically... The Golden Rule:
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...
and it's true, we should treat all others as we would want to be
treated.. sadly, some just will not play nicely, but we must
always find it in our hearts to forgive them...

I believe that most people are basically good people,
so it's not usually a problem...
and color? Colors are for paintings. ;)

Well done,
Always nice to see you Roy
Cat

I like this poem. It reads smoothly and has a good message.
kindness' (would 'kindest face' work here?)
Fortunately the golden rule has not disappeared entirely. My husband and I find it a very satisfying rule to follow.

    One of my favorite saying has been "All the darkness in the world can not put out the light of one small candle," and those tiny lights do seem to shine brightest on the darkest night.

I love the message, tone, and flow. The word choice is effective and the message clear. Love is the answer to this world. Being God focused and practice daily love, kindness, and compassion. I relate to "They've disappeared, those golden words-
to honour people seems absurd.
Why do we think new wisdoms reign?
Can thoughts of self, the dark restrain?

The Bible says put others first;
Lord Jesus one, then you'll not thirst.
With kindness, goodness, bless all folk,
then in joy's well-spring you will soak." Thanks for sharing.

Yes it is true we wouldn't know if something was bad or wrong if everything was perfect. We wouldn't appreciate the good without the bad. People are losing their ability to be kind and compassionate. This is sad.

Keep writing.

G'day Roy. Welcome back mate. I'm back in Cairns as well now for a while. As always this flow and rhymes superbly and hold a brilliant message. So many greedy and selfish people live in this world today that do not care about anything or anyone other than themselves and that is a sad stae of affairs cobber. Lovely work, cheers Fez
