I do believe that freedom's bought
with blood, a cross, a thorn.
absolved am I from guilt and shame;
my peace from chaos torn.

I love this Roy and believe it whole heartedly. I wish I had a six
God bless

It is every man's right to be free, but the depravities and evil of mankind have denied some the right to be free. Christ did absolve us from all sin by his Atonement, but I believe He wished us to live a life, warm in the knowledge that we can be free of guilt, but to expect death only at the end of our lives. Interesting concepts, excellent rhyming and good spiritual message. Faye

Freedoms like, indeed freedom comes with a price like many other things in live, that's a very heartfelt expressed poem. Thanks for sharing it. God bless you. Lakeport.

Amen. I always had trouble with that line of the song, too. Your poem is right on to me and perfectly written. Thanks for sharing.

The poem has many very powerful lines, my favorite being: "Now freedom's just another word, unless it's bought not won." This is a point of view that many people are passionate about and I feel this poem can resonate with a large audience. Great job!

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

The poem focus nothing in life is free it is earned,
The poem storyline development as a cloud freedom brings a new start away from the past. As a whirlwind freedom lifts the unwanted, but places it where. For as a storm with it's ghostly sheen new freedom has the same, for it cost. It is gain to some, but pain for others depending on the side of the freedom you stand. Without the win it isn't the same, our freedom must be won by each to have the gain. Without death at the end of life no freedom from a life of sin. For Jesus freely gave his life so we could have freedom in the end.
The rhythm carries the reader from word to word, sometimes the beat is hard and fast, then soft and controlled, but always moving forward.
Keep on writing.

Roy, you really make me think.^J^Rita

    You've hit the nail on the head with your fabulous reading of the poem's meaning, Rita, some people didn't get it, freedom's like truth, people have a different interpretation, but truth like freedom comes at great cost! Wonderful review and exceptional rating, thank you, blessings, Roy.

Hello royowen

I like your poetic thought by comparing freedom with ---

like a gust of wind
that clears the footprint's brand;

It sounds like to me you are saying our freedom is going down the drain.

Gert

    Not quite Gett, people's version of freedom is like truth, it has an illusive meaning. Thanks for the great review and comments, Blessings, Roy.

HI Roy, I do believe as you...you should not have pay for our freedom with money or our lives...but we have a greedy government who see's it different...all your money and your lives to keep a few rich...rich...hard to fight with them...in His time Jesus will solve to problem...for now live life in faith...there are some things that don't cost...very well written...Liff Linda xxoo
