A Tribute To Mom (Maggaw)

The death of a loved one is very depressing at any age.

Nicely done. You pulled on my heart strings a little - that's always a good thing. I like the style of this, the rhythm was easy to find. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Your poem brought tears to my eyes, I miss my mother badly too. Your words, how you wished for one more time to say you loved her, my wishes too, so many things you have written, I feel too. I am sure I am not alone on FanStory who can very easily relate to your poem. A wonderful tribute to your wonderful mother. Good luck in the contest! :) Sandra

Your story confirms my belief that forgiveness, while people are alive, allows us to capture the positive memories, and prevent negative memories and regrets from being those we express to a picture of the deceased, or at their grave side.

Your story was a checklist of things we must remember to do for others, and ourselves, to enjoy the present moments, because this may be our only opportunity, before we die, or they do.

The message is so universal that our time on earth is limited, and yet we argue about the insignificant things in life, taking time away from each full day of positive energy that we are offered.

You have put an additional prospective on the words of Ernest Hemingway:
"There is nothing else than now. There is neither yesterday, certainly, nor is there any tomorrow. How old must you be before you know that? There is only now, and if now is only two days, then two days is your life and everything in it will be in proportion. This is how you live a life in two days. And if you stop complaining and asking for what you never will get, you will have a good life. A good life is not measured by any biblical span."
-- Ernest Hemingway, For Whom the Bell Tolls

Wow! Thank you for the six star rating! Thank you, also for your kind words. You are also correct in your comments about Hemingway. I think he got it right!

Excellent poem. Felt lots of emotion in this writing.

When the darkness of nights held back by the stars
And a soft glowing moon lights the skies

I have often thought like you and many others who have lost someone very close to them, what happens to those people. I realize now that they are still with us as we keep them alive within our memories. Well-written poem!

I could certainly feel the love for your Mum pouring out in this piece. You wrote the poem well and your words flowed freely. Your Mum is clearly very special to you. I couldn't find any faults. Good luck in the contest...Jacob

Hi,

Indeed, losing either one of our parents is devastating. No matter how long they're gone, we just miss them more. Almost eight years since my mom left suddenly, yet I still feel as if I could pick up the phone and call her.

So sorry for your loss. It's never easy.

Good luck in the contest.

Cheers & Blessings

A very lovely tribute to your mom. It is a blessing when children can say nice things about their mothers, There are sadly some in this world who cannot praise their mothers. Blessings, Patricia
