This really is cool writing. I like the story of the drover's life, and how the day time is being extra careful while the night, the one in charge lies in the sages. I can tell you know something about farming or ranching. You know the wording to use, and being a poet, you put them in the right places. Very enjoyable read. Loved it. Sorry, but I haven't a six left. Have a good week. Drew xx

Being a Texan, I grew up with cowboy stories and songs. This is a lovely and humorous ode to those hard working men. Their importance shouldn't be forgotten.

Oh Nancy, of all the poetry we read on this site, of every beautiful sonnet you've ever scribed that I've read, I swear, this has to be one of my very favorite poems! (Remember how I told you when you wrote your Western that I loved the old West - you have captured it perfectly here, and in the most marvelous, poetic way - meter and rhyme are wonderful, as always, but it's the 'lingo' that's purely enchanting.)

How can you do this to me? I have no @#$!! sixes left this week! (LOL) Gosh, I wish we were allowed more!

BRILLIANT! ******************************!!! (One little edit suggestion - no comma after "sound".)

Nancy, this poem and it's artwork deserve a most special and high rating, as it is written with so much talent. Many poets on this site don't have the talent that you pose as an expert in your field of poetic artistry. Carole

Great piece of old western artwork you have provided us with. It certainly sets the tone for this wonderfully crafted old west piece you have delivered.
God bless!

To Honeycomb,
Long days than seem unrewarding but a man's job will be done right.
While a night herder sings to the beeves a sad tune
a lonely coyote howls (all the night long) at the moon. -take away the parenthesis
and it matches nicely
-just a suggestion

Hi, Nancy,

What's not to love about a cowboy? Nothing!
Love your artwork. It really catches the moment.

This was a fun read.

You live outside of town don't you? Are there a lot of wild horses?

It's weird how when you go into edit from classic, it takes you to the new site. I wonder how long it will be before the classic will be gone?

Have a great evening.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'.... Jax (*:*)

A very well written western poem. This has a smooth flow of words with an excellent rhyming scheme. There is very good imagery and descriptive scheme.

Rhyming was great.
Rhythm was great.
It told a great story of an almost forgotten occupation.

Yep! The sage is home. Chuckle burs and all. Beggar lice. Did some of this in my life. Takes a good horse and a strong back and legs. Nancy, you did yourself proud with this one. I really enjoyed. Send it to the Cowboy Hall Of Fame.
