Hi Brooke,
Well, this piece surely brought a smile to MY face, lol. And, I'm guessing your daughter lives out here in the west, where it's dry as a bone. Although, from what I'm seeing of the weather, it's a different story in your neck of the country. Strange days, indeed...
I appreciated your imagination in this thought of the perception of creation. Wonderful enjambments and creative alliterations made for an enjoyable read.
My favorite quatrain was the second from the bottom...it says a lot about our ability to keep the mystery of life alive.
Thanks, Brooke, it was fun...Bill

Grandpa says they grew from seeds,
and the gold is really weeds. .. ha! Grandpa and I are kindred spirits!! :)

Ms Stevenson, I hope this one wins!

Well, first you make me cry, then you make me smile. :) This is so much fun to read out loud. Love the cadence - it almost sounds like rain, the way it 'drums' along.

I love the idea of wizards working their magic!

Very enjoyable, Brooke.

Another fine poem you have written Brooke that any child would love to have this read to. Great descriptions of the goings on while it's raining. Good luck in this contest and thank you for sharing.

Hi Brooke,

We've been almost washed off our mountain by the recent rains, and our grass is a deep rich green - not a dandelion in sight.

Once more a lovely poem, poor Grandfather - too 'old' indeed ...

quatrains in 7/7/7/7 Rain is Falling.' I didn't know there was a drought in the area where Sawyer lives. Where is that? Another lovely children's poem, Brooke. Well done.

Brooke, this is a wonderful poem for children and adults alike. Your poems are always appear to be effortlessly written. this one is no exception.

Worms are popping from the ground,
wiggling, squiggling round and round --
one worm, two worms, three worms, four,
as the rain begins to pour.

I love to watch the birds come and pick the worms after the rain.

Great work
good luck in the contest. Mary

Another lovely poem with perfect structure and solid rhyme patterns. It tells a delightful story about rain and worms which is true. I wonder how many city kids get to experience that simple sight. I liked the counting sequence too.

CG, thank you so much :-) I read about city kids who don't even realize veggies are grown in the ground. Brooke

Ah perfect timing for this read - such vacationing at the beach and we get a rainy summer day! Love the words combo and the playfulness of this one.

Excellent contest entry, Brooke. I can imagine a child reciting this poem. Very cute story combining worms and wizards like a child might do in their imagination. Smooth rhythm and excellent rhymes. I wish a wizard would MOW my lawn :). Good luck in the contest!
all the best,
Rodger

Thank you so much, Rodger :-) Hey, if you're making a list, I wish the wizard would drop by my place after he mows your lawn to leave me a big old bag of money! :-) Brooke

haha I'll tell him to go to Trooper and Egypt and whistle for you. If he leaves it here, I just might spend it before I get there!

You would show you were a local in the know if you called that Schrack's Corner :-)

I must be a distant local LOL, that's a new one to me. It must have been named that for some business that once was there but now replaced by big boxed buildings.
