Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Liars tell people what they WANT to hear, not what they NEED to hear. Thus, liars are excused as well-meaning while the honest broker is often labelled just plain mean.

Tact is most often a wasted effort because when a truth, tactfully stated, passes through the filter of emotion, it takes on the color of the preferred lie. People simply hear what they want to hear.

Is language ability valued? Sure. Most often by purveyors of lies who want to convince the general public that they're true.

You're not the only one who's cynical, Ingrid. Very well done. :) nancy

and filter every word through that screen of emotional deception. [Excellent point, well put!]

often the only way to get our meaning across is by writing it down. [Oh, I'm so glad you validated me with that. Sometimes I say something and realize after the last word is out, it's exactly the opposite of what I intended. Orally, I'm capable of the most salient misspeaks ... but I do pretty well with the edited version of my thoughts.]

A fine theme, well executed, Ingrid. I only went halfway in my paragraph above. No matter how well articulated my [usually written] statement is, it is still subject to the emotional, intellectual and mood-frame of the receiver.

I hate it when someone tells me what they think I want to hear. I hate being lied to. But we all tell little white lies to avoid hurting anothers feelings. We assume that is the kind thing to do. Is it? Good Job. Nancy

There's always a way to circumvent a lie. Being asked how a dress looks when you're in the store is a different story from responding to a person who asks how you look when it's too late. Switching to a neutral subject, responding to the question differently often works. "Mary that shade of BLUE is so complimentary."

A well written and thought through writing. It tells us just how important words can be. From the harmful words to the educating words. Lessons are learned from words not always to benefit others but the person writing them.
It is what we do with words both spoken and written. If you respect words you will respect yourself and others.
Keep on writing.

This is profound.....and true...I think people like to be lied to....
Does this make me look fat?
What do you think of my new dress? ....who truly wants to hear ...hideous? But I personally want to be true....true to me true to you.....that's why I write fantasy because my truth....of kindness love forgiveness is wrapped in a candy wrapper of mystic fun.....
Well written
God bless

It's probably a good reason for me to stick to fiction. Thanks.
