You have found your place in writing short stories. You are super excellent at that and this one is no exception. When I am down I look at all the beautiful life around me that God has created. Sometime I need to look really hard, but it's there. Good luck with the contest.

Nice short story that fulfills the requirements well. Love how you started with books, kittens and under the tree. Then your dream got shattered unfortunately by several things. Lovely ending too.

This is beautiful girl. It takes one back to a childhood time when everything was perfect. When life happen beneath the honey tree bees. Sigh, so wonderful.

Ah, my poetess! Thank you Miss C! It wasn't perfect tho, for me...but when I was in the apple trees, with just the kittens and a good book, I really was happy. A bittersweetness to the write. Bob was my firs husband and I don't like the name either, yet if 'm honest forty some odd years ago I was watzing around singing "Wanna be Bobby's Girl" h puke!
Well we both have apple trees in our stories.....note the intangable ties... Got to baysit in about an hour, love them....not necessarilt like their noises at the crack of dawn...

Hi Nancy! Thank you so much!! I had to really dig into my memories for this story. I practically lived in the Golden Delicious tree tho, from age 5 thru ? teens?
