You have penned a great poem with a very true sentiment.
'But the words of women and men in poetry
Remain all time to cherish.'
Thank you. I very much enjoyed reading it.

A salient message here comparing the eternal quality of words to the transient nature of material pens and paper. Your theme is charmingly conveyed in this skilfully rhyming verse, making it a joy to read. I particularly like the third stanza for its spot-on meter. You could achieve a better result in the last stanza just by shortening that third line - "But words of women and men in verse." But an excellent post. Well done, Barry! Debbie

Hi Barry I enjoyed your poem and like you have lots of poems written with paper and a pen and have quite a collection.
You are right our words cannot perish and having a book of my poetry published last year I hope my readers enjoy my words too
Nice work and food for thought
Cheers Chris

Thanks for your review Chris. I think when your rating came through you may have marked it incorrectly. It had a rating of 1. You can change it to 4 or 5 if you wish.
In any event, take care and have a wonderful day.

Well done Mr. Penfold. Interesting your name is part of your poem. Paper and Pen is so true. The Egyptians used papyrus and stone tablets. I hope we don't have to be Barney Flintstone and carry around shopping lists on stone tablets :-) Over years all things crumble into dust.
On principle, I would not write on an iPad! K xx

Thanks Aussie, for your kind review. Yes, the Barney Flintstone style of writing, may be a little difficult to accommodate. And yes all things do crumble into dust. Take care and have a wonderful day.

I did enjoy reading this except for part of one line which is the merest of issues and I suspect unresolvable. I liked the alliteration of words of women and men. However, when you repeat it, I found it harder to read with the addition of in poetry. The repetition is good but it feels a lot to read in online. But again it would be a shame to sacrifice your message. All in all, it was great perhaps not perfect but who is?

I have seen ink on paper last for many centuries if it is looked after properly, but this is what is so unique about our digital inventions these days, our words never fade. I enjoyed your underlying philosophy here Barry, love Dolly x x x

A very nice poem about a writer's two favorite things. Pen and paper. I still prefer to write everything in pen and paper and do it later on the keyboard. It feels more real to write out the words. Thanks for sharing.

That's a good one, Barry. You have touched on a subject that is written about a great deal, but you have approached the topic in a unique manner.

Having our words hang on forever is one of the things that makes the fan story community so wonderful. It's because we have an opportunity to have our words read by other people and maybe those words will have changed a life or two along the way. Thanks for sharing this lovely poem. Patricia.
