Good morning, Rachelle,
An incredibly thorough, entertaining, and enlightening interview with JSD.
I admire your questioning acumen as well as your ability to move the interview forward while covering a plethora of topics = not a dull moment anywhere!
There is no question that John is a prolific and talented writer, and you, my friend, are one as well.
I enjoyed learning more about JSD; however, I have one small piece of advice: Contact your daughter, John, ... before it is too late...

Much enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing!

And thank you for this lush and generous review. I always appreciate how generous you are to me, both with your words and your extra stars. xoxox

Yeah, I remember him:)) Lovely to see him back and, clearly, in such great form! Your wonderful interview, Elle, teases out with aplomb those little details that reflect John in all his special, skilful and saucy qualities, so memorable to us. Love the idea of the sonnets and, of course, the execution (and this from a man who said he didn't understand meter!!)
Eat your heart out Oprah! She's on her way!
Great job all round!

Yes! Included in the twenty-two hundred word response he submitted to me was a nugget about how you chastised him for not being as disciplined about meter as he should be. He credits you for helping him to improve as a poet that way. (Cha-CHINNNNNNNG!!! on you, Woman, taming that little FS rebel of ours!!)

At first, I thought you misprinted JSD, and it was to be LSD, not that I ever participated in such frivolity.
The interview was eye-opening, and the highlight was letting us know who it was you were speaking to, and then I asked if the interview was a dialogue over the phone or exchanging questions and answers through e-mail.
Now I should but likely won't delve to see what John has written.
Further, kudos for what you do and how blessed you are to teach all the subjects you do. Speak of talented people.

You definitely should check out his work, Tom. I honestly think you'd like it.

As far as how we communicated, it was during a romp in a mosh-pit in England.

Excellent interview. It made me wish that I either enjoyed poetry more... or JSD wrote prose.
blind contests - (plantain)
stars - freedom to employ numbers 1 thru 4
cents (for voting) - How about a monetary reward for reviewing, scrapping the 150 requirement (after a fashion). Only substantive reviews are monetarily awarded.
Thank you for your great post.

I don't normally cotton to interviews, as I like to get to know people her through my own conversations with them. Having said that, when I saw this was an interview with John, I had to read it. John, I MISS YOU!

I get what you say about being short-listed in an international contest being more satisfying; I was short-listed in January for a short story from prompts, and I literally jumped and down with joy!

I didn't realize what a rich life you've had. I guess I should have, as your poetry is so rich in meaning. And I remember that I always had to think about what you were saying - I've always enjoyed that in both poetry and prose. Isn't that what a writer is supposed to do?

Write to your daughter and be honest! I found a diary my estranged mother had kept (never thinking I, or anyone else, would read it), and it is a treasure that I will always hold close to my heart.

Describe yourself in three words: I AM A REBEL. This pretty much sums John up, doesn't it?

John, I understand that FanStory can drain your time; I have felt the same way. And for what? So that someone can give you a few stars? I hope you will occasionally offer us poor beggars a little something to chew on, but I get that there are bigger fish to fry out there.

I wish you all the luck in whatever you endeavor to do. You are one of a handful of extremely gifted writers here, and that is sorely missed.

Rachelle, thank you for giving us a few moments with John this morning.

xo

Are you ever gonna take another shot at me? With all of my writing I think you know me better now. and I don't come off so out there. I think. This was entertaining. Karen

No; I think you're a too much of a lightning rod, my love. You've burned a lot of bridges on here, and I would have to go into feral beast mode to defend you as the reviews came in, I fear. This ship has sailed. xoxo

I was afraid of that. I do not bow down to anybody. Never have. And, I no longer hide being smarter than the average bear. I lose a person every now and then, but I will live a full life even if the Self-promoting Queen of all she surveys grabs one of my readers every now and then.
