Now street racing was a huge temptation back in my youth! Almost a right of passage.

In my little town the police seemed to look the other way...

I can relate!

I remember those days when I dreaded seeing those lights in my rear-view mirror. Now, it's a challenge for me just to step into a car, and then have to take care of my wheelchair. A great entry for the Temptation Contest. Hope you do well!

I'm not sure what I think about this temptation poem. They have already stopped so why start driving again? You normally make the decision whether to floor it just before the lights. Good luck. Ulla

Thank you. A writer's critique is about the writing--- not the subject of the writing. There are some great books out there on how to critique. You have to stop before you can race. That is what a drag race is. A rolling start race is one that starts at 35 miles an hour.

The temptation to drag-race is clearly seen hear. I like what you wrote in the last two lines that caused the driver to be hesitant to race. Your poem is well-crafted. Your picture accentuates this poem well. Nice job.

This is a fresh look at temptation. With February, I keep expecting romance, but this is fun. It sets the scene, gives us a glimpse into the drivers mindset, and leaves us wanting just a bit more... Does he go for it? Heed his fathers wisdom? Great work.

Thank you! Yes, I went for. The car on the left is mine. I did beat him. I have been lucky---no cops. I now only race at the drag strip.

I liked your rhymes, and the poem itself was very funny. I can relate - I've had the cop's lights for me before, and my dad was not pleased. LOL. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.
