A dog can bring so much joy. We've had dogs for twelve years now, and I don't think I could be without a dog now. I am so glad that you have found a companion, and your dog will always be a firm and loyal friend. A well written piece.

You sound a lot like me from your description. Always game to read what a rebel writes. This is a piece I feel. Glad that it came across my site for review this morning. Did you get a dog>? The perfect companion.
This particular line connected with me, the pyromaniac. Few things settle my soul on down like dancing, flickering firelight.
Such comfort
in the dancing,
flickering firelight.

Smiling, I agree, naturally.
Merry Christmas.

I have since I was born had at least one dog. I can't picture myself without one. Sometimes, I feel they are the only ones who truly understand me. Only sometimes. Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I enjoyed reading.
PS, Dogs are a lot of work, but they are rewarding.

Loved this write that's quite profound. The structure and short lines give it a catchy charm. I particularly liked the ending... we rescue a broken, wounded dog from a shelter and while we help to fix and heal it, it fixes and heals us. Beautiful poem.

This is a very lovely poem. Certainly is nice to know that if loneliness surrounds you, there is always the love from a sweet dog just waiting to happen. I hope you got your dream dog. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I'm afraid we tend to live our lives in relative loneliness, although sometime there is a sense of connection sometimes, God being the only one who can truly inhabit our soul, and only that by invitation, but human possibilities not, it's probably just as well, our thoughts not being always savoury, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Wow. This was about a dog. Not a ugly, duckling. I, too, am a loner. Never truly alone, but invisible to others: much younger than I. I hope to, at last, being with those my age as my teens. Heavy wish: at seventy. Merry Christmas.

I know that feeling of being "bereft of touch". Also of past rescuing of animals. But, even had I ignorance of these, your poetry would strike my heart with its simplicity, flow, and unique style.

So why don't you get a dog? I enjoyed this post of yours... I think this might actually be the first time I have read anything you have written.
Let us know if you got a dog...

Thank you, Lisa.
I would love a dog, but-
my girlfriend will not allow it.
Merry Christmas.

Oh, well... we no longer have a dog and say how great it is to be free of taking a dog out in the freezing cold and rainy weather...So I am guessing your girlfriend is thinking ahead....
Lisa
Merry Christmas

Not sure about the spelling of your last word? But this is a sweet poem. It could be about so many things, like loneliness or an imaginary friend. Or maybe just a dog? Works well though.
