This comes across as a poignant, sad tale of a lonely man. You give the reasons for his aloofness. His wife died. But what is really sad is that he couldn't grasp those outstretched hands of help and sympathy when it was offered to him. You had some strong images of him here sitting by himself, and then found with that gun in his hand, with the suicide note. It is a portrait of someone who just couldn't find a way into the light from out of the darkness. estory

Willie, a sad and lonely poem, culminated with an act of loneliness or perhaps desperation. The warning about God may be a little late for the old coot. Excellent writing and presentation. Terry.

Such a sad ending for a lonely man overcome by grief and loneliness. You have written the poem very smoothly with excellent rhyme as well as metre. The image was also well chosen.

Your poem read well, Willie. I liked the font, the rhymes,
and your picture. You told a good story though it was
poignant. I could see everything as I read due to your
descriptive words/lines. The ending was sad, but hopefully
God forgave him.
Thanks for the notes.

very powerful and moving poem about a character straight out of the old west. I like the cursive font and the image that brings to life this character and his life.

Geez, this is kind of depressing writing. I was hoping the old guy would find a new lease on life, not kill himself. The artwork you added is perfect and compliments the words you wrote. Nicely done.

I love this poem. The cursive writing is readable, too. It is really an important message to send. Every word is understandable, and the rhyming effect is unique.

This poem grips the reader's attention from the start -how many people today mend their own socks or even cook their own food? - a tale of a man who lived life by his own lights, so to speak- really interesting & what a superb visual -all 6's gone so only a virtual 6-love the font
