Hi Wendy,
Ian and Sue, life-long friends hey? Sounded like you were setup and maybe bribed with the chance of a nice little getaway.

Jade and I used to look after the black Lab who lived next door when his parents went away... which they did regularly. Nelson was a dear old gentleman. Every time the nexties went away same, we had the list. Nelson required valium when there were storms around... and it seems it mostly happened when the nexties had gone somewhere and we were looking after him. Was it hard to get to swallow tablets? Hell yes!

I have to say, I haven't seen a question mark followed up with an exclamation mark before. Is it a thing?!
But in saying that I enjoyed your story, as I usually do. Had a bit of a smile on my face in the knowing of just how stubborn the old gentleman get at that age.

All the very best in this contest Wendy... but I have noticed, you've been rockin' a few of late. So well done there Teach. You are a great storyteller!

With our thoughts we create...
disillusions of peace.

Kind regards,
James,

You may well be right! A set-up. The best thing for tablets is to carefully insert them into a piece of cheese, I have found! Even then, somehow they can sort it and leave the tablet in the bowl, and the cheese gone! Lol.
I have made it 'a thing' on rare occasions to use both together - but probably not acceptable to 'purists'. Being Aussie, I like to break the rules at times, and use a bit of creative licence.
Thanks so much for your wonderful review and good wishes. Always appreciated.

It sounds like you got a lot more than you bargained for! I loved the tongue in cheek tone, despite the frustration of the content. It's never fun being out in situations of unexpected responsibility! I'll be feeding my friend's cats for the next two weeks, but that's just putting food down once per day lol.

I very much enjoyed (and was sorry to hear of Lincoln's passing shortly after).

Mike

Thank you Mike! Hopefully you will manage your task without any difficulties. Lol. Ian had had this dog from a puppy, soon after his first wife died, so he was VERY emotionally attached.I was relieved to give him back safely.

I very much liked reading this story of real-life events. I thought it did a great job with humor. It sounds like you had more than your share of surprises and struggles with the friends' dog, Lincoln. Favorite lines include: Lincoln was obviously used to walking down the middle of this country lane. At thirty-eight kilograms, he won.
And also, nice 'c' alliteration in the line: I finally cajoled him into continuing.

Dear Lincoln! Fifteen is very old for a 38 kg Labrador, they don't usually make it past 12. I loved this, our dog Buddy loved to walk, but by the time he got to 16 he didn't like to walk more than a few yards, beautifully written Wendy, blessings Roy

Thanks Roy for reviewing. Yes it was a good age for a Labrador. I was just glad he didn't die while I was looking after him. My own Lab died a month short of his fifteenth birthday.
