I did enjoy this. Our little routines continue ... and life goes on ... and one day in a seeming flash, it will all be over. But the winds continue. Well written in that laid back country style.

Love this. An ordinary day with interspersed extraordinary memories. "You know it's all gonna' blow away someday." and "This Oklahoma Wind is gonna' have its way." I really enjoyed reading this, thanks so much for sharing.

I enjoyed your poem/story of Spencer and Freda. It's casual, down home style tells a story of a long marriage and the strength of character needed to farm for so long with the wind always threatening. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.

That is fine picture you choose to go with your poem
You dog made it a perfect mach
You captured my attention from the start
Yes time and age will change things in Life
But like you said You wont give up yet
I saying the same thing
So we both need to stay on praying ground.

Farmers are hardy and never stop working and often their chores keep them alive and kicking well into old age, I admire their tenacity to keep going and care for the land and the animals, much enjoyed Brian, love Dolly x

Your free verse painted a great picture of this couple. I enjoyed reading it. Your words are descriptive--I could envision Freda and Spencer. They reminded me of the saying 'the salt of the earth.' I like how Spencer repeated what his father had said many years ago.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

As I was reading this I felt in my heart that this was a song lyric (and I hadn't read your note at that stage) I reminded me of that lovely and humorous old Walter Brennan monologue, Life Gets Tee-Jus, Don't It. It had the same feeling of resignation about it if not quite the same pessimism. I loved it.

Brian,

I popped over to YouTube to see and hear your song while leaving a FanStory tab open so I would read along.

This story in a poem tells the tale of many folks in that area. Who put their heart and souls and money and back-breaking time and labor into their land - and didn't always get a return. Nice. Thanks!

I really enjoyed reading this moody poem which does a good job of creating the atmosphere of an Oklahoma farm . Your words are well chosen. Thanks for sharing this story within a poem.
