I am not really a fan of sports, although I have to say, your poem is very enticing -- I think soccer has to be one of the sports that I might enjoy.

"Maradona" USA poem that clearly expresses the poet's enthusiasm and respect for a famous footballer from the past. The word choices seem a little unnatural until you take into account that the first letters of each line spells out his name. That's not so easy. Good job.

Wow - you've honored your favorite soccer player and did it quite well. I love to watch the tournaments, but I don't know much about it . Just a fast-moving, excitable game. I enjoyed it when the US girls played.

Great short history of a famous soccer player. It is important to write about outstanding people. I just wish that there could be a few more literary techniques in it; but nevertheless, it is an inviting, educational poem about a great soccer player. Thank you for sharing.

I remember this footballer and how he cheated in the world cup final against England. Not sure of the date. There was a lot of controversy about it at the time. He was a skilled footballer and worshiped in his own country. Good contest entry. Good luck. ~Mel~

I grew up only knowing European football. Maradona was a great footballer only to be compared with Pele. This is a great tribute to his life and career...John

Good to see him profiled here, yet that hand of God in the world cup, didn't help.

Not being a world soccer follower, this is not a name with which I am familiar. At 60, however, it appears he died a young man (the older I get (69), the younger 60 seems. It appears your poem was - and still is - a great hit.
