"my own choice", how I wish I could have. THis poem really makes me feel like I should have followed my own instincts and lived my life for me.......(trying) once more to make the stars work. ??I like your honest style of writing. GOOD job. Susan

That ending line was superb. To look back at the end of the day and smile with satisfaction rather than be bowed down in regret is a great feat. Nice poem. kudos

Hi deepwater,

this is a thought provoking and compelling poem. I think it so true that to love we much love ourselves first. Not to be arrogant but to be comfortable when we are alone with ourselves. Very wise theme and excellent word selection. Well done....chey

I really like this piece. I especially like poetry that seeks to enlighten and answer questions that have not been specifically asked yet asked a million times. The question this answers is: What should I do with my life? I find it very interesting. It flows along, easy to read...I don't even think that is such a concern for me when I read more so I pay attention to content and what is being said. I enjoy what you have written..I could write a companion piece...it would be more like get your education and save your money and invest wisely...haha..and then go on a pilgrimage on your vacation.

good job this is an in depth message about finding out who you really are, and being able to see the emotional wealth that one has gained over the years. It's a wonderful journey to being ones own best friend.

Your free style poem really speaks to me about the importance of taking your own path in life. Living life to the full and experiencing as much as possible in a way that is valuable.
You warn that it won't always be pain free but in the end it will be rewarding to know that your journey was one of your own making. A very thought provoking poem.

This is a great poem about going out on your own and finding your own path. The free verse poem flowed very smoothly. Thank you for sharing it with us. Great job, Shirley

A good piece of verse, but needs a little
tweaking, my friend.

Fulfilled and understanding in all, and truly content
[[That]] I lived a life that was of my own choice

Might I suggest you lose the first "that" in the above like - it works just as well without it.

deepwater,

The theme was very nice. The descriptive words chosen were good. The flow was smooth. All arrangement is understandable.

There was no SPAG. No room for improvement.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal
