So, Sally, the burning question we all want to know, since you made out in that vehicle such a long time ago, what was it? ... a Toyota? Ford? or Chevrolet? a Cadillac? Pontiac? or Hyundai?
I bet your knee hurt for a bit!
I like your imagination. And the humor.
Did you break the lighter?
Nicely penned, and full of imagery.
Thanks for sharing!
Cheers,
Kimbob

    1967 Mustang. It's hard to pinpoint what was wrong with the lighter. Everything else seemed to work in the car. I'm glad you enjoyed my piece of larkish fun. I see I'm much older than you, Kimbob. {Smiles.}
Sending you my best today as always,
    Sal :)

I don't think so, Sal. I'm 69 years old, though I feel a lot younger. I'm guessing you are only in your early 60s? My first car was a 1966 Falcon Sports Coupe. The best car I ever owned was a 1974 Chevelle Malibu Classic.

LOL This is a comical poem and very cute! It made me laugh. I like the part about it warming up when your knee hit the cigarette lighter. I really love the picture too! Good luck with the contest!

Ha - too funny - I'm not sure they have cig. lighters in cars anymore - do they? How did you find that delightful image/art? a good way to send your love to your valentine. Amazing that love lasts beyond the flaming time - and keeps us together in calmer climates.
Good job.

Well, it was a 1967 Mustang which had a car lighter you pushed in to get it to warm up. I'm tall and did this on more than one occasion. So glad you enjoyed this, Gail. Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally xo

Hello Sally, what a clever satire. I'm wondering which came first? It must have been the picture how could you find a picture so perfect for this brilliant poem. I'm glad the flame still burns for you. But then, I know it does, from what you have written in previous posts. Great piece of work. Warm regards Dorothy xxx

Thank you so much, dear Dorothy. I'm glad you enjoyed my flaming piece and tribute to this love of mine. He is so darling and precious to me and my love forever. I'm tall and my knee really did hit the lighter and turn it on, more than once!! So glad you enjoyed this.

Flames burst upon your shirt and danced upon my hair. Artfully created and skillfully matches the illustration. Congratulations, Sal on keeping the flame burning for your valentine.
Best wishes

Congratulations to the two of you! We too celebrated our 48th in December but was overshadowed by the passing away of my brother much younger than me on the 27th of November.

Thank you Sal, the only consolation was he went within 24 hours of getting sick,
a stroke with brain hemorrhage. He spoke to me for over an hour on the phone and we were planning Christmas holidays as the family from overseas were coming over after 20 years. The strange thing was minutes before my youngest brother who was with him in the hospital called to tell me he had passed on, a bright light flashed in front of me and I took no notice, I was praying for his safety at the time.

Wow, that's amazing. God was listening to your prayers. God does a lot of things and sometimes es we don't realize it's Him, like the flash of light. You should write about this once you are ready. XO

Too funny, a clever poem that " matches " your great picture. Lol. I love the line "melting Ruby lips" . Blazing good for sure. Have a great day, Sal.

LOL! This is SO hilarious--giving me the first lengthy belly laugh I've had in several days. You have successfully spoofed those overly mushy, dramatically lovey-dovey poems. Love it!

    Sally xoxo

This satirical post is funny in a heartwarming way, as I know the joy you and Jackson share because you are "still married to the keeper of the flame." Jose Feliciano playing "Light My Fire" fits your theme well, and the illustration is a punny play on the name of that widely-known online dating site.

Hi Sally, I liked that poem, it's a really cute Valentine's-or Not Club entry. I loved how you set yourselves aflame with desire... with the cigarette lighter from the car! LOL Very funny :)
