Yes an interesting topic here for this Monostich and not one to expect as being the subject of poetry- left-handedness- used to be a sort of 'stigma' attached - why it is difficult to say!

Zanya, the old church, conforming to the biblical reference of left-handedness, mentioned something 21 times, never in a good way, I think is what spurred this activity on. My hope is this have been stopped worldwide.

Being left handed I related so much to this. I love the last line and the way it was worded. The world definitely is not made for left handed people. Nice job.

My mother had that happen to her in public school. But after all. look at the terrible words for left or the negative connotations. Sinistra, left field, left out, left over, faux pas. I also have the dark spot on the left little finger knuckle. I was told I had messy papers. Didn't they know I had to drag my hand through what I just wrote. I never did do the crook your hand approach. How about doing posters? What a messy nightmare. I am voting for this one.

Liz thank you for the validation and the vote support. Welcome to the 10% club. There are so many things that lefties must deal with in a dominate right society.

I think this is a good entry for the Monostich Poetry contest.
You tell a clear story of being left handed in your one sentence.
Well done and I wish you well with the contest.

In my opinion, a clever and smoothly rendered write, complemented visually by striking artwork, and perfect in its compliance with the prompt. Best wishes in the contest...

My mother is left-handed, so I might have got a little more out of this. I have heard of schools where students were nearly forced to conform to right-handedness, so I am interpreting this to mean that nuns were requiring one to use the right hand. So this is a poem and a story of sorts, too! Clever title, too. (And my mother learned to write with both hands.)

Wow! I never seemed to be able to accomplish anything of substance with using my right hand. I have always needed the handy man to be my fixer upper because tools like scissors just don't work.

Hello anon, very good one line poem. These short forms are not easy and to get a message across with so few words is an achievement. You have done very well with this one. It's hard to imagine nowadays that children who were left-handed were once encouraged and even forced to use their right hand. You can't alter the workings of the brain. Good work - good luck - Dorothy

You've written an excellent Monostich poem for the contest
It's sad how small minded thinking can cause such sorrow.
So many great people are left-handed. A sign of talent.
Excellent art work to match
Well done
Good luck in the contest

Cute one liner. For sure, in times past, teachers (and nuns) would rap your knuckles for using the left hand. My daughter/law is left-handed and some of her kids are - no reason to torture them. But you must be careful where they sit in a restaurant booth - they need room with their left.
