It's nice to know that there are women around like Kay. Thank you for sharing her. You have created a very engaging story here. You make me want to head to Tobago and Kay's cove. It's funny how certain people stay in our minds forever.

Awe, Debbie. Thank you so much. She was a formidable woman. Everytime I see a gecko, I say 'hi Gearge' and think of Kay. And that is often. Ulla:)))

Here in Texas we have numerous geckos and they are our friends. I like anything that eats insects. LOL They are cute little creatures and I often have to protect them from my cats. Thank you for sharing this lovely story with us.

I enjoyed our story, Ulla. I'm love that Kay was out protecting the turtle eggs. It sounds like her house was magnificent. I really like the way you described Kay and her affection for the geckoes. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully with Love, Jan.

I was startled by one in the motel room in Townsville last month. They're so pale that it's difficult to see them on a painted wall until they scurry.
Nice memory of a friend.

This is a very well-written, interesting piece from start to finish. I could feel the admiration you have for your dear friend Kay. We don't have geckos here in Missouri, but we do have several types of lizards and skinks. The colder climate version I suppose. Nicely done.

Thank you so much, Misty. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, geckos live in suptropical and tropical climates. All best. Ulla:)))
Comment from Gloria ....
Yikes, moving walls! This is a wonderful story, Ulla but I'm afraid those geckos scurrying on the walls would've made me a little nervous at least until I got used to it. They really are quite lovely little critters.
This is a most heartwarming and unique story and illustrates one small gem of cultural difference.
Most enjoyable and many thanks for sharing.

I love your tale about a woman who affected your life. She not only taught you how to love nature, but showed you how determined she was to protect it.
This is a warm cozy feeling story. Thanks for sharing,

Just wonderful!!
I don't know if I've ever seen a gecko...my
son had lizards, so I probably did.
I love the blue parrots against the sunset,
and her fierce determination to protect nature.
A lovely story!!
Blessings...

I think geckos are adorable creatures. Of course, any creature who is so cute and also takes care of the bug population is welcome to visit any time.
Thanks for sharing this piece of yourself and what you learned. This is a the sort of feel good story I like to read.

Good to know geckos are helpful. There are none where I live Too bad. Far too many bugs here in the summer. I know they can be pets, but I don't think I'd want one. All my pets have had fur or feathers, not scales. :)

Hi Phyllis, what a shame. You would really benefit from the geckos. I loe them. They are so sweet and do no harm other than to insects. All my pets have also had fur as well. Thanks a lot for a fun review. Ulla:)))
