I like this with the oxymoronic contrast of rip/threaten bringing joy.
It is a great way of expressing the power and passion of love.
Good luck in the contest.

Sometimes, but not always. Love can have sharp edges as well, not always bringing us joy. In the beginning perhaps, but it does rip our hearts open one way or another!

A one line poem that tells the story of what happens when you fall in love un-expected and not wanting to. The word "open" leaves room for a variety of emotions to land there and one being love. comment made on 3-14-19 by called2rite.

I hate these 1 line poems with a passion - but then again we have to pay the bills right?
Having said that, I think you've actually done a great job of maximizing the message content here and used no small amount of irony in doing so. I think you've actually nailed the sentiment pretty well and the reader can easily relate.
Good luck.

Hey WildWithWords... I've been designing movie posters in LA for a couple of decades and the TagLines for the movie are considered as important as the art. It is not easy to make a succinct point about the movie in a few words and yet the taglines follow the movies they accompany for the duration... many outlive the art... just sayin'

Yeah... you're a pro at this one-line caper.
Remind me to stick to longer stuff where I have a chance of competing. LOL.

Love makes us very vulnerable and can cause such pain and sorrow, but sometimes, just sometimes, we may get lucky and abundant joy can be ours. We may not believe it at first, possibly thinking ourselves unworthy, and can't really accept it... it threatens our equanimity. We may have established a calm, loveless life and suddenly our whole world of stability is threatened by overwhelming emotions.

Hello Artasylum,
One Line Poem is actually a great challenge, and you have faced it beautifully with lovely wording.
Instead of "threatens", 'enthralls' might have been better. I think so.
Nice Attempt, and Best of Luck!

Art--
Haven't felt that in some time and really don't expect to, but I like what you are saying. There are only so many times your heart can be ripped like this.
Thanks

I am finding such great poets on here that make such an impact with so few words. But this are the right words to get the feeling across. I really like this one.

-Cute artwork and presentation, Diana.
-You have an effective one line poem.
-You catch our attention with the verb "rips."
-I like the concluding part of your
poem that shows the resulting joy.
-Good luck in the contest.

Hello Diana,
This is a very fine one line poem and entry for the contest
with excellent use of powerful action words like rips and threatens,
then ending in the surprise peaceful word - joy.
Can't do much better in one line.
Best wishes to you.
Robert
