First I would like to say I just love the Fiddler on the roof. Your chapter is wonderful. I know some people have a problem with family marring out of their religion. My one question to Shana would be how much does she love Drew to try and find a way for it to work. I also see a little hint that he is having feelings for Jeff. I am curious to see who these pans out. Well done. I would have loved to give you six stars but my allotment is used up.

Jeff has given Shana some very good advice. I have a Jewish friend who has turned to Buddhism. He is married to a gentile. It is a choice for the couple to make. This is very well written.

Hi Barbara, I really liked this chapter and maybe Shana is finally opening up to the idea of courting a Gentile. To be honest, as she has grown up in the West, I think her father has brought too much pressure on her. The woman is the one that carries on the Jewish faith to the children, anyway. So nothing is lost. Looking forward to what's next. All best. Ulla:)))

Thank you for the kind review. I have known may Jews and some you wouldn't even know they're Jewish unless they told you, others, well are very much like Shana's family. It just depends how strict they are, as with any religion.

I totally agree. I've known many Jews as well and you're right. Sometimes you'd never know and other times there was no doubt.:))

I don't think children can be raised as both Jewish and Christian. They're bound to have strong opinions well before adulthood, and they'll feel like they must betray one or the other parent. If the mother is Jewish, then the children are... that's how it's usually done.

Some notes, if I may?
1.) "Lately, Drew's been my (confidant) on so many things,
2.) Michael opened the patio door, "Oops, excuse me," and closed it.
--> Michael opened the patio door(. When he saw the girls speaking privately, he said,) "Oops, excuse me," and (retreated.)
3.) "Why don't you want a man like Drew to love you? I don't get it(.)"
4.) Why does him loving you, upset you so much(?)
5.) He's Gentile, but has Jewish in his heritage.
--> He's Gentile, but has (a Jewish heritage.)

Hannah would be a good one to talk to, and she'd probably be willing to offer her thoughts, even with the sick baby. Shana shouldn't let her own happiness be determined by others. (There is no charge for that advice.) Great work with your story, and I like the way you have Shana finally expressing herself to Drew's mother. I like the advice Jeff gives Shana. judi

As I'm not a particularly religious person myself I find it hard to see why marrying someone from a different faith should be an issue. You have done a good job of showing it from Shana's perspective which helps the reader understand her dilemma but I'm glad she is able to consider a compromise.

I thought the word ignore sounded a bit repetitive but it didn't detract from a good read
