This is a sight we're graced with every day, Pam.
We live smack dab in the heart of Amish country here in the area of Ohio where I reside.
Nice painting to accompany your well written poem.

I can remember visiting Lancaster county in Pennsylvania, and seeing and visiting the museum there, we saw sights one wouldn't normally see in mechanised America, well done Pam, have a happy and prosperous new year, for you and yours, blessings, Roy

I live in a rural area, so I have seen this picture often. It fits the Tanka very well. I can't quite see "suspenders" as a pivot line, but this is a delightful excerpt of life in Amish country. Good job.

    Hi Jaye. I figured that if a horse
    Is pulling a plow, then a person would be on the other end. I did change the last three lines to

    ?Amish man
    wearing suspenders struggles to keep up? Thank you for your lovely review

The Amish are an interest of mine and this is a splendid representation of all they stand for...hard work without complaint and a low footprint on the environment. Your painting is colorful and vivid - this especially appeals to me.

We live in Amish country. It thrills my heart to see them trot by to build houses.
I like the suspenders reference...struggling to keep up...plows mightily...

This is a very well written Tanka poem about the amish farmer and his horse. You used great descriptive words and painted a lovely oil painting of the farmer and his horse. Great job my friend! love and blessings, Teri

Your very concise poem describes a scene that was realistic YEARS
ago and is still realistic. There is an Amish village near where I live.
Visits there have amazed me.
