This poem was nicely stitched with great musical elements of meter throughout, nice use of alliterations, some great images. You have a nice soft, reverent tone in this poem, there is plenty of color in it, you ignite the mind to drift into winter solace.

I think I know who wrote this, but of course I'm not sure.
at any rate it is very good. Wonderful words describing cold, icy winds and fields covered by deep snow that make me glad I don't still live in Colorado. Realistic descriptions bring back memories of very cold winters, but it is beautifully and realistically written, so much so that I can almost feel it.

Excellent contest entry! So descriptive I almost feel like I'm there.
I do wish you hadn't reminded me that winters only six months away though! ;) You don't make it sound to pleasant.

6 months? Don't know where you are, but here on the Canadian Prairies, we'll be lucky to stave off winter for another 3 months... (lol... but, really crying, not laughing...)
I loved the smoothness and flow to this piece, it's lovely and deadly - just like a prairie winter.
Good luck with the contest,
pf

I love this poem! Your use of personification is brilliant. Your rhyming scheme is impeccable -the meter is so tight. Winter is my favorite season, so I enjoy poetry pertaining to it. Awesome job!

Great picture to compliment your poem. Good word flow makes me almost feel the cold. I grew up in Missouri where it doesn't really get brutally cold, but I always hated the winters there. I am a warm weather guy and can understand how a brutally cold day can make one just want it all to go away.

Indeed that's true. You WISH, but it never ends some winters. Thanks for sharing my poem and kind praise.

A frightful vision of a bitter freezing cold that could kill you if left out in it too long. The barren landscape and the heavy clouds show that rather clearly. Winter never comes to Florida. Thanks for including definitions of words unfamiliar. It will help prevent needless corrections.
Lol. Good luck in the contest

I can't wait until winter's here. Not only do I love snow, the colder weather allows me to breathe a bit easier.
Having a bum ticker--i.e.; bad heart--has far-reaching side effects one would never dream of.
"A grey-white weave of winter clouds..." ... Nice sounds of "w' right out of the gate, Anonymous Poet.
"herringbones the sunken sky"is a unique and fresh perspective of the rippling clouds seen against those dark grey skies on days like the one you've so vividly portrayed.
The abcb rhyme scheme featuring well-written stanzas made for a smooth and delightful reading experience.
