Sad. I miss him too. The whole poem reflects solemnity. From the bare trees to the old dog. A friendly reminder that let's are part of the family and leave memories and legacies just as our human family members do.

This reminded me so much of the time my dog had to go. The worst part for me was "the last walk" when we know and they don't and we feel we are betraying their trust even when as in both our cases it is the kindest thing to do. I wrote a poem too. It was posted here on 19th September 2015 so it is one of the earlier pages in my portfolio.

This poem of yours brought it all back.

It's so hard when we lose a pet - your poem tells of how much
you miss Zoe - but when there's memories love lives on.

good luck with the contest, my friend.

This was very touching and from the heart. It's amazing how much pets can bring to our lives and how much it hurts when they leave us.I wish you good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. This is all new to me. A win in the contest would be amazing but the competition is tough.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I consider this well-written poem worth six stars because I could find nothing at all to change or wish different. The subject is "someone missed" and if you still miss her after seven years, I'd say she qualifies. The way you write it, as a letter to Zoe, is sweetly touching and almost brought tears to my eyes. I sympathize, as I feel my two cats are very much part of the family too. Your meter and rhymes are smooth and comfortable, nothing feeling forced at all. I found it a sad, but very enjoyable poem to read. Good luck in the contest.

This is a wonderful ode to your dog and her love. It is hard to lose a pet. My dog is getting there too. She is 15 years old. She will be missed when she is gone.

Sorry for you loss.

Good luck in the contest and keep writing

Oh, how hard it is to say goodbye to a much loved pet, but as you say she is at peace now and her pain has ended. I hope your poem is accepted in the spirit to which it was written for the competition. My very best wishes.

"Farewell, my trusted friend", is an extremely well-written and heart-wrenching piece. This talented poet's work was a true pleasure to both read and review. Our canine friends hold a very special place in our hearts. God bless those wonderful doggy paws.

Thank you for your kind words and for your feedback. Zoe has a little piece of my heart tucked under her collar in " doggie heaven" I don't think I will ever love a dog more.
