Yes, ma'am, I couldn't agree more, what a waste. Of course it's terrible to waste the flowers, but the real sadness to me is that everyone doesn't have a sweetheart to share them with on Valentine's Day. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Hi Gypsy
"...an awful waste of space", isn't it? That's a line from the 1997 movie "Contact", starring Jodie Foster.

Your poem about leftover Valentine flowers reminded me of this. Who wants these flowers after the celebrated day? You can't get it back. Missed opportunity.
As for space, look how many years it's been since we landed on the moon. A waste.
Thanks for sharing.
cheers

Yes! I see a lot after Valentine's and now there are lily's --beautiful. I can't give them a home because they are dangerous to cats. Now I see loads or orchids. There are so many that I won't even bother to buy one. Kameo has enough problems.
Hope this finds you well. Did you start ghost hunting yet? :P

My laptop died so I bought a new one and I'm waiting for the package. I can't start my horror story until I get it. ....sigh... and you?
Thank you for the review.

I'm going to submit Southington Stabber and Flower Power. Maybe I would write a horror/ghost story if there is a contest.

Dean has a contest, you should join. He won't be in it. I can't remember the name. Check his profile page. You would have a good chance.

He should be in it! Just kidding when I said I wouldn't join a contest he is in. I'll enter it, but I love reading his stuff. I can't wait to read yours too!

Hi Gypsy. This is a great haiku and I really loved it. Waste is a pet hate on mine and it breaks my heart to see the waste from shops of all sorts, especially produce and flowers. Well done, it's a terrific Satori, Giddy

Comment from Dean Kuch
Yes, it certainly is a waste, and for a couple of reasons.
Reason number one: It's a shame that living flowers had to be plucked, cut and arranged to create a beautiful display, only left to die then be discarded in the trash, when they could have remained living.
Reason number two: It's too bad there isn't enough romance and love in the world so that these flowers could have been put to good use.
Very minimalist, Teach, but this really doesn't need a picture.
Your well chosen words painted the picture quite vividly on their own.

You know why they are left over friend? because they are insanely priced just for valentines day, which is a bit of a rip off. I normally take Moana out for a good romantic meal, just the two of us. Nice little Haiku friend. Got your renga response...Nice! I'm on it : )

Wow. They must have been there for a long time. Another of your excellent example of Haiku. I reviewed a poem by Siscat today and told him how much I liked your writing.

I suppose there is a whole lot of wastage in the florist profession. A bit like a bakery. Everyone only wants fresh bread and I suppose that is the same with flowers hey.
thanks for sharing
