Wow Steve;
-indeed you gave my tongue twisting, tearing, tormenting, tumbling and thorough thirst for more. Definitely, being a sports fan, I loved your sports section and your section on politics was spot on and being appropriate for this time of year.
-This was not to you a bundle of time to figure out and do and I applaud you for that.
-It also reminded me of what Pres. Obama followed up on that was originally done by Bob Dylan in their songs. Definitely tongue twisting for sure.
-Thanks for sharing and I mean that a lot and have a good one and take care.

Thanks, Alex. Someone else has made the connection to Bob Dylan too.
This started out as a fairly random list of rhyming phrases - the hardest part was marshalling them into some sort of organised context.

That is usually the hardest thing to do is organize them to complete the context thoroughly. You did a very good job and take care my friend. And you are so welcome Steve.

You turned the Sunday newspaper into a poem. This is a much better read than the paper. LOL Very creative and a very good job.

Wow, my friend, this is amazing to read aloud! What fabulous unusual rhymes and slant rhymes--all well timed in this rap-like fluid free verse flow of satirical commentary and memorable one-liners too as well as musically coherent alliteration (etc.). Intensely thought provoking and requiring many read-throughs to fully absorb (all worth it!).
This poem DELIVERS.
And Shivers~!
Favorite bits (in order of appearance):
where are the boundaries
frisson of friction
delayed execution
conclusion -- confusion
and:
devising dissension
commanding a question
with no explanation
and especially love the wit here:
Puzzles and Comics
defy economics
capering jester
insidious monster
invidious punster
or funster imperious
you cannot be serious
potent:
ignoring the history
father confessor
offender transgressor
Absolutely love this word play:
Lifestyle
(or strifestyle)
the makers and menders
and various vendors
Ha ha ha:
underwear optional
(future conditional)
Love the voicing in the arts one:
remarks on The Arts are
compelling depiction
of factual fiction
in separate session
of cinematography
not quite pornography
artsy meandering
gawking and gandering
past understanding
both take-off and landing
fostering posturing
AND THIS SATORI LIKE closing line to the stanza:
precision illusion
Impacting:
it's hardly surprising
pollution solution
gets hardly a mention
conditional fission
is missing explosion
GREAT rhyme pair:
Politics
fancy tricks
FUN BITING WIT:
cluster and banter
of Satan or Santa
advance or regression
the splintering faction
rendition redaction
to sphincter contraction
and gross purefaction
Did you mean: PUTREFACTION?
Missing a 't' - unsure...is that a typo or is that an intentional pun?
Apt closing note:
a whole new dimension
emotion in passing
digression digression
procession
the end
Thanks for this intelligent and highly entertaining (ironically) feast of word play and satire.
I like the premise of exploring all facets of the news~
Warmly, rd

Thanks, Rama. Your reviews always uncover things about my poems that I wasn't even fully aware of myself! Did I really do that? Wow! I'm smart!

You certainly are! :-))))

This is an outstanding poem. The playfulness makes this a delight to read and it is highly original and imaginative. A perfect accompaniment to the Sunday papers! Congratulations for such a talented piece.

This reminds me of some Dylan's early songs. I swear he used to open
the newspaper and turn it into rhyming venom. In fact, Phil Ochs, an early Dylan apostle once recorded an album titled, All the News that's Fit to Sing.
What makes this different from the Dylan songs--his were longer.
I enjoyed reading it aloud. The feral cats on my stoop joined in on the chorus.
Great stuff.
Peace, Lee

Thanks, Lee. Yes, someone else mentioned Dylan. I guess there's no more topical write than what comes hot off the press, although I confess that the sounds were more important than the content - to start with, anyway.

Yeah, Steve, I get it. But Dylan somehow glommed on to the rapid-fire rhyming of -tion and -ing and -ection ending words. Just an observ(ation) --there's another one.
Truth is, yours makes more sense than his.

Now, that IS a 'blinder' -- not for one moment a 'bungle or blunder'. And you're quite right; it has to be read aloud. I did. I think 'strifestyle' should replace 'lifestyle' in the dictionary at once.

Hahahahaha! G'day Steve. Wow, mate. I took your suggestion and read it out loud. The kids were all laughing and asked me to read it again, but I was out of breath! It reminds me of that old Billy Joel song, we didn't start the fire lol.
Great job, cobber. Very entertaining and creative.
Cheers Fez
