Very stunning art work you have chosen for this writing. I loved the poem particularly for its content; that is, its ode to Christ. I loved the rhyming and the rhythm was very steady and musical.

Beautifully done, Roy. Your message is so true and your poem is well written with impeccable rhyme and rhythm.

I felt that way, too...about that Janis Joplin song. Never liked the words.

Take care,
Senyai

Another religious poem that puts forth strong words and images of faith and freedom through Jesus Crist. I like the following lines: "I do believe that freedom's bought with blood, a cross, a thorn" and the last verse sums it up nicely. One must be willing to surrender life for death to find true freedom.

Our freedom has been very dearly bought and that is something that we forgot far too often. It seems that freedom is cherished most by those who don't have it.

Just as you said, freedom came at a huge cost, but as it came, those who fought, fought with their all. So they got their freedom, when they had paid the ultimate price, their freedom came when they had nothing left to lose... that is the way I saw it. People had made such a mess of their lives and the lives of other. Jesus died for us, so that we may be free from sin. People being human usually wait till they are down and out and have no where else to turn, after drugs, alcohol, ect, all the other escapes, when they have no where else to turn. Nothing left to lose. Some on deaths doorstep. Jesus doe not care when we come to him, he will take us at our best, but also at our worst, when we have having left to lose. That is the way I hear Janis's words.
Well written and though provoking as always Roy.
Thank you for sharing your poem and your thoughts.

The last two lines of this poem are riveting. Death is inevitable and we need to look to our most blessed example of dealing with death. And you are so right. Freedom is certainly not free. Our Lord paid for our freedom with His life. Your poem is exceptional. It flows easily from beginning to end and is flawless in both rhythm and rhyme. The message it expresses is timeless. Thank you for a very thoughtful read. Blessings, Linda

Thanks Linda for this marvellous assessment of the poem, freedom tends to be subjective, but freedom that was bought with Christ's blood Is priceless, brongs peace, fulfilment and freedom from death. How good is that? Thank you so much you've made my day, BLESSINGS, Roy.

Timing and rhyme is exceptional and what you have expressed is so very true. It is not the winning but the ultimate sacrifice made. The poem touches my heart. I think you're very gifted.

The rhythm, rhyme and meter are all
well written. I think the imagery in each
stanza is lovely. I like the addition of
Janis Joplin's 'Now freedom's just another
word.', is appropriate for even young
folks have heard her music and this was
one of her best songs. The remainder of this
stanza bears God's truth. Very beautiful
lines.
