I just knew Kuruk would show up somewhere to make sure Soni didn't end up in trouble. Those old guys just have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Great chapter. :-)

Great continuation of your story line, Barbara. Midnight finally rescued but not without some complications. It seems that Soni, Jim, and the dogs have handled things, but who is chuckling in the background. Good or Evil?

Interesting. A lot of trouble for a couple of horses. Maybe you should expand on that -- Midnight's looking or acting skitterish, and Soni has a flashback of her favorite moments with Midnight. Maybe the horse broke a leg and Soni had to nurse him back to health or sit watch so none of the other ranchhands kill Midnight. Otherwise good job.

Thank you for dropping by and leaving this kind review. I have been taught that if it doesn't move the plot along to leave it out.

a great chapter filled with action, Barbara.
Come on, Midnight(,) just a little closer.
hand-to-hand combat with a man. Butkus had another man on the ground and stood with his paws on the man's shoulders, - this needs tweaking --- too many "man"s - how about...

Another great chapter with terrific dialogue. I love Soni's answer to what took her so long. That was funny. I'm ready for the next chapter. Keep writing.

Hi Barbara,
I don't think I'd want to be the target of a man who can throw a knife that accurately. Sounds like Jim and Soni are at least starting to work together.
Good writing.

Oh my goodness, please let them get away. I didn't like that cliff hanger, they heard a chuckle. Oh no. This was so tense, I was on the edge of my seat. Brilliant as usual. Genya

Hi Barbara:)
You always end each post with me wanting more. That means your writing has strong hooks at the end of each post. This time your SPAG-free post make me wonder if Jim and Soni are getting closer to romance. Soni appears to almost questions Jim about the possibility he is a government agent(G-man), my suspicion all along.
I was surprised when Soni's grandfather, Kuruk threw his knife to cut the second tether to free Midnight. Did Soni know that he was following her? It appears that both Soni and Kuruk are using their Apache skills to perfection. That was Kuruk chuckling, wasn't it.
Great action and dialog as usual, so more love and Irsish Hugs headed your way.
