One little grain of sparkly sand
was sitting all alone,
until a gently lapping wave
swept new grains toward his home.

Perfect flow to the sing-song rhythm and rhyme - as
always it's a pleasure to read your work.

Thanks so much, Margaret, for your lovely six stars. We have several inches of snow predicted for tomorrow, so I just bought myself a frozen turkey dinner for Thursday in case I can't get to my sister's for Thanksgiving dinner. I need to be thinking about beaches :-) Brooke

stay safe and warm, Brooke - I've seen the snow in some parts of the States on the news and, although in Kent where we lived for 10 years when the children were small, it to reach up to my thighs - I've never seen it as deep as they have it. And with threats of floods - even worse. When up in Kent, we couldn't let the dog out for fear it would disappear under the snow - as quick as the men in the village dug a way along the road, it was covered again. How our men got to work was a mystery, as in those days, no work - no pay!!

thank you, Margaret - last winter the Philly area had its second worse snow year ever with 68 inches total - in the Buffalo area they had over 80 inches in that one storm That is just amazing and horrible! It makes me say to myself - you can survive 5. :-)

Dear Brooke, This has such a fun and light feel reading it - even for me the smiles came, maybe I miss my beach:) Beautifully crafted as always, this reads smooth as silk. Kids will love it, I did.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Brooke, this is another one of your fantastic counting poems, your imagination is just so good to write such lovely words about sand. All the twelve stanza are brilliant, well done, I enjoyed it.

My goodness, it seems Sawyer has grown several inches since I was last on FanStory. You do such a magnificent job capturing his many sides in poetry. The flow and message in this one have such synergy - it's lovely. I've missed coming on FanStory, but too much was happening in my life at the time I stepped back from writing. I had to make some choices.

Ah, that last stanza is really cute, I like the way this whole piece flows from 10 - 1 grain and then the one grains finds new friend. Great artwork that pulls in readers in; thanks for sharing.

It's fun to think of grains of sand as something we CAN count. I like how you SHOW a young reader how each grain is important. As always, you TEACH as much as you show and it's nice that the single grain finds new friends at the end.

I absolutely love it when I see one of your poems pop-up with number in the title! I always know I am in for a delightful guessing game (but squished 'tween toes instead. was my fav! LOL)

As always, Brooke, you kept me thoroughly entertained :-)
