I think you've composed a very nice AhA haiku, Carolyn, with a nice twist in the tail with the contrasting last line, well done with this one, good luck in the comp. Blessings, Roy.

Hi Roy and thanks for the encouragement. I don't know that much about the Japanese background, but I do enjoy writing Haiku. Only God can take a speck of dust and turn it into a lacy white diamond.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

lacy white diamonds
whirl sparkling to the earth
winters snow gems

Leaping lizard, kigo, concrete and mortar... All those poetic devices mean zilch to me. I just know what I can understand and enjoy. You nailed both for me.

I like the tie on from the lacy white diamonds as winters gems.

Can't wait for our first snow... Nicely done, john

We have had a couple of fires in the fireplace so far, but no snow as of yet. I always love it and then am happy to see it go. Thanks John for this fantastic, fun review and the sixer.

Hi Carolyn,

You did a great job in writing "Understanding the "AHA' in your Haiku poem for the contest. I liked it very much. I liked reading your author notes too. Good job all the way around.

A good one, Carolyn. That is a lovely picture to go with your very nice Haiku. I like the title. Lacy White Diamonds! That is what they look like. :>D Miss Sally

A nice tying in of lacy diamonds and snow gems, cleo. One nit: in the satori, "winters" should be an apostrophe s.

Hi Carolyn, how are you and your family.

I could the those pretty little snow flakes slowly descending and makes such a beauty.
Each of these words tell a story of its own and seems to be very real., just as we see them.
There is peace in there too .

Love the scenery and it makes me cold just thinking about it. Good contest piece and never thought of snowflakes as diamonds , but I know there are no two alike. Best to you . Hope you win.

The gems of snowflakes or frozen water is a winter show that sparkles in the moonlight. There are wonder and awe for those who can find pleasure looking at them.
For those too busy even to find them, these gem's beauty is lost in the wilderness of the dark night. Smiles.
Great write and well expressed.
Good luck.
Cheerio, hugs and luv, bro Ritchie. :))
