True we are co-creators of our reality. And when we're conscious of what we're doing, great things can and do happen.
I like the concrete imagery in the first part of your tanka, and the excellent pivot line.
Great verb choice in "glide to a higher plane" - when in harmony with life, events dovetail with effortless ease.
To my frustration, all this effortless gliding happens with inconsequential things. LOL I guess I have too much ego invested in larger matters. Working on it, and your tanka is like an encouraging pat from the Universe.
Best of luck in the contest.

Really like your pivot line. It is equally effective in both the preceding, and following two lines. And the verb glide ties right in. Good luck.

This is a terrific entry for this contest. I like the subject and you convey the beauty of turning debris into something beautiful. Beautiful illustration to go with this too. I wish you all the best in the contest.

Dear Shari,
And birds do just that, they plan, prepare, are industrious, and finally create the sturdiest of nest in which to hatch their family. I loved the Tanka, the message and the accompanying picture. I think you have a strong contender here.

A brilliant penned piece of art - as beautiful as the nest build from strewn debris and dead vegetation.
Our creative and and thinking power can get us a lot of things in life.
Garbage is money too and big time business.
If only we can use more of our creativity pursuing the best, more innovations and gadgets can make this a more wonderful world.
Great write and good luck.
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

Dear Shari,
I loved your tanka entry. We fashion much from debris; even wine is basically spoiled grapes:) This was quite a thoughtful write. Best of luck in the contest--Ted

Thanks so much for the six, Ted. You're right about vine. LOL. At least it doesn't smell like dirty feet.

Nice Tanka, Shari. I like the imagery of the bird building a strong next from the debris to the message of transforming the bad into something good. Unusual timing for this because I am watching baby wrens bounce around my back porch where they are testing their new wings. Their mother built her nest in a vacant flower pot full of debris. A lovely sight. 8-)

hey spits ... haven't seen you tinker with tanka for a while (don't you love the sound of 'tinker with tanka'?) ... but of COURSE you'd be good at them. I'm here in AZ at the moment, so higher plane thinking re conservation is very much in the picture here (though not, unfortunately, for the conservative voters!) Great tanka write here!
