Any one who has been loved would never diminish or trade that moment/memory or reality. It's hard to decide one love is more valid than another. Thanks.

Ingrid, this is a lovely, and yet, very interesting and melancholic story. I loved reading it from beginning to end. The poor boy, Timmy, young as he is, felt so deeply the loss of his "friend," Mrs. Simpson. The dialog between Bella and Timmy, strikes me, too, deeply. Your ending too. The house for sale revealed that Mrs. Simpson was no longer there, and I think, the boy, Timmy, felt something wiggling inside. It is painful. Reminding me again my broken past. You write so well, my dearest friend. This story deserves a six. I am out of luck because I used it all! Congratulations.

Recently I heard a quote that I can't recall exactly, but the gist of it was that love and memory of a deceased person is the debt of the living, the cost for the gift of love from another time. Listen to Garth Brooks song, 'The Dance' I had that on Saturday night and danced in my living room with a husband that has been gone 15 years.

It was good story. I could see where you were going and I have to say you did a wonderful job with it, without being preachy or overdoing it. You let the story tell it. I would suggest perhaps a notice for the sudden scene shift. But it was a great tale.

I tried not to cry like a little girl all the way through this. Hahaha. At least I got even with my wife who was making fun of me by making her read it too!! Such a darling little weeping couple! Absolutely defines what love really is. To some of these little pieces that describe falling in love, I say see me in twenty years. So many beautiful lines like "dandelions turning into wishes". But the truth of the story told in a straightforward way without any gimmicks is the star. This has to win. If it doesn't? Well, everyone that reads it knows the real truth. Beautiful! mikey

Michael, the prompts and contests make me focus on a single idea and that's the biggest draw for me entering. The honest truth, the second reason is to collect enough funny money to keep promoting, but if I don't win, another story touched a string in the reader's heart that mine didn't. C'est la vie.

There are a lot of homophobic people on site that might not react to a life time of love unless it's between heterosexual couples. For me, an enduring love is a life treasure. thanks for the glitter.

When I was a child I knew of an old lady who gave me ice cream all the time and my mom didn't really want me around her. But she was a sweet older lady, but I digress, this was a very touching passage that really tugs at the heartstrings

Were these ladies sisters? I've know two old maids that stayed together, really after their husband's died. It's a sad story in it's own right. God loves you and so do I.

Oh Janie, you missed a critical segment regarding Miss Simpson saying that both Bella and she had been married for a long time and then the vows and the matching lockets. Imagine how many spinsters might have been homosexual partners?

No, they were not sisters. They were two women who pledged their love to each other and lived up to their promise.

I had a sneaky feeling it might have been that, I just chose to let my mind go the other direction. God loves you and so do I. I thought maybe as as to their age and the use of the term marriage because marriage tween gays is fairly recent.

Most gay people in long term relationships considered themselves married, just as common-law spouses, long before the legalities made the title' marriage' official.

Sometimes you just have to move on in life and just remember the memories made along the way. He will always remember her for he has a locket to share in his future

More than that, I think. When understanding comes with maturity, he will remember love not as an expected life experience, but also the love of two old ladies for a boy and each other. Thanks for reading.

Hey Ingrid, beautifully written. You had me with you the whole way on this one. The visuals were great--I could really see Timmy jiggling Mrs. Simpson's toe and the actions of all the characters.

The relationship between Bella and Miss Simpson took me by surprise. It's a bit different to think of elderly people in gay relationships, I guess because those things were so hush-hush back in the day.

I've always loved talking to older people and I've had some Miss Simpson's in my life. Grandparents are great, but there are non-relatives who can be just as inspirational. It's sad to think of all those stories gone forever with each death. Young people should talk to them much more often. Especially the generation that experienced the Depression and WWII. They can teach us a lot.

Overall, you took a delicate subject and wrote about it with just the right tone.

The six is not quid pro quo. It is well-deserved. Thanks for writing it.

(You called Miss Simpson both "Miss" and "Mrs." in places)

At one time I toyed with the idea of sponsoring a contest with a few options of which one would be 'Is it better to be in a heterosexual relationship within an abusive partner than to be in a homosexual partnership where respect and affection flourish?" I thought it was the right kind of prompt to stir up shit around here, but I guess I'm mellowing and can't be bothered.

Yes, I think it is hard for many people to accept life-long gay partnerships where couples live and grow old together, suffering all the tribulations of any life expectancy and relationship turmoil.

The greatest love stories I've witnessed are in ordinary circumstances, an old couple holding hands in a grocery store, arguing about each purchase.

People to think about love stories and romance in terms of youth and passion, but my spectrum has a panoramic lens.

    Thanks for the lovely stars.

It is easy for a compassionate child to become involved with a situation such as this, but I guess it also made him realise he needed to have child's fun, too. Your story is written with much sincerity and love. Nice to see into the child's mind like this. Enjoyable read. Faye
