A very well-written chapter. I am the oldest of four and me and my brother the second child were in charge of the back car doors, after we witnessed a boy fell out of the car in front of us, much as you described. It seems we either experienced it ourselves or witness it first hand. I hear of many people telling about the same kind of incidents

Thanks, Sandra, someone on FS described the front opening doors as 'Suicide Doors" I think I mentioned that in a later edit of this chapter. I think it was Michael Cahill. Have you read any of his stuff? He was one of my very first friends on here. We have a lot in common.

Asbestos was a horror brewing that no one knew.
When your brother fell out of the window, did he get hurt?
Quite a growing up and the punishments were remembered as what happened when I was young.
Very well done

He fell out of the attic(k?) actually but it was before my time. He probably did hurt himself. You get to read a lot more about my eldest brother later. Thanks for coming through. Will post some more tomorrow. Then I have to start reviewing again to get my points up hehe.

Interesting stories, my friend. I am interested in reading more about your sleep. I have a serious sleep disorder and go days at a time without sleep. I have even had hallucinations from sleep deprivation. I hope to catch the part where you write more on that. I don't have sleep apnea though according to their tests~Debbie

There are two types of Sleep Apnoea. One type lets you lose weight once you get on CPAP treatment the type I have is obstructive Sleep Apnoea where the brain does not tell the lungs to breathe during sleep. Can point you to that chapter if you like it is about 2/3rds the way through..diagnosed in 1990 as I probably say over a bit. You will see I had a LOT of handicaps. Thanks for the lovely review.

Been busy Thomas. Keen to get all my stuff up to par. Grammarly lets you down as well. Even when set on British English, it still stuffs up in some spelling, as you can see from some other responses to reviews.

I loved the old photos, we have pretty well the same style photos of us too! I can remember much of the area where I live now, were just paddocks when I was little, it's a pity you didn't hang on to the land your dad acquired when you were little, they'd be worth a bomb now! I enjoyed read your biography, Geoff. It would be like a stroll through history for youngsters today. Well done, mate, blessings, Roy

Thank you for sharing your story. I am enjoying reading.

I had the feeling for a long time that my Dad would have preferred they neither have my elder brother nor me ( dad needs a lower case 'd' because of the my)

I was born in a Northern Suburb Private Hospital, in March 1951. (January '54. You have three years on me. LOL)

My maternal Grandfather had helped my father develop the block of land on which he built our home. (lower case 'g' on grandfather, because of the my)

An interesting start to the story about your home and family life. I've heard of suicide doors. Thankfully, it wasn't worse than a concussion.

Thanks for starting my book I am working on a full book review eventually. I did go through and do an edit using Grammarly then found out Grammarly is lousy on Commas Grrrr. Sorry no rewards atm. There are more medical problems down the road. My wife and I are both on Disability Pensions since August 1997.

Wow you are an excellent writer! Your story is interesting from start to finish and moves at a good pace. I note you shortened the chapter for easier viewing which is a shame as just as I was getting into it, it finished.

I love the bit about playing 78's and dancing round the room by yourself. I'm a child of the 60's and did exactly the same with my older sister's 45's.

I can also relate to the part of the polished wooden floors. We moved in to a brand new house in 1966 that had wood-block flooring which was all the rage then. Me and my younger sister used slide in our socks the same way, lol.

A well written and nostalgic read x

As to shortening the jury is still out as to size of Chapters. Apparently we are supposed to keep chapters reasonable Tom still says 2000 words is fine but there are those who disagree with that and say more likely to get reviews if around 12 or 1up to 1700 words only. I am still so thankful you have taking all the time to do this please stay with me I am happy to friend you or fan you on here as I like your stuff to I am not as game with the language heeh but I like your story if I have the right person hehe. So are you in the "Old Country" as in Britain?

Sankey, this is an endearing write that touches on so many little nuances of life in the fifties and sixties. The helmet is great. Nice work throughout. :0 GracieAnn

It is always so interesting reading about other peoples childhoods. They are all so different. I have always been fascinated by Australia, one day, one day I will get there. I see you have another few chapters up, can't wait to read them

Getting them all out for big final reviews and edits before I think about a publisher thanks for the encouragement. Been seeing some old reviewers coming back that are noticing the changes I have made from way back. We have been working on this for over a year on here so far.
