I am touched by your verse, your friendship, and the support you give in this time of need. There is a source of solace, a place out of the wind, where the silence sings to me. Thank you for your prayers, I will welcome the healing rain, as it washes away the tears we have all shed, enduring this loss.

This is such a heart rendering piece. The loss of someone you love or hold dear is one of the hardest burdens anyone will ever bear. I wish you peace because in time, the hurt will recede and all the beautiful memories you shared will take away much of the darkness. May you find peace and comfort in that knowledge.

You are so right, and the unexpected death of a grandchild can be so traumatic. I pray the memories of the great times they all shared in the past will help to heal their hearts now. Thank you for your great review and kind comments.

This was a great tribute for your friend. As I read it I could not help but think of those families of the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School, too.
It is hard to know what to do to comfort someone, but these lines sum up what we can best do which is to turn it over to HIM:
"There is but one thing left for me to do.
I bow my head, and as the teardrops fall,
I ask the One who saw his own son die
and surely knows the pain of sorrow well"
Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes with the contest entry.
Blessings to you!

I thought of them too, Marsha, and think much of this would apply to them. I have been praying for their healing also, and know it takes time and God's touch. Thank you for your wonderful review. I really appreciate this.

Thank you for sharing your blank verse tribute to your friend. I liked your "clouds" simile and "father/child" analogy. May the healing be swift and sure. -Joan

I'm no pro with BV, MM, but I absolutely adore this poem. It reads so beautifully and I think all the meter is perfect in your BV. I love each verse and you pulled me into your emotional words. Best wishes in the contest.

Good Evening, Adonna
This blank verse poem is superb in every way. But first, let me speak to the heartfelt emotion that comes through so very well. Your fine use of metaphor, well chosen words and and the development of the poem's theme is superb. I know your
From a technical point of view, the meter is spot-on and flawless. The blank verse is perfect. I had only one initial question of 'begin' and 'sing' were proximate rhymes and after a review with the dictionary, they are not.
This blank verse is a stellar example of how blank verse should be written and how beautiful it is when done correctly.
BRAVO! for a job well done.
This should do extremely well in the contest. Best Wishes!

Oh MY! What a wonderful review and so encouraging to me! Thank you for checking the dictionary for me. I know that was something we learned in Al's class, but I didn't take the time to do it, so I'm very grateful that you did. This review makes me think the sentiments expressed were okay... not overdone, as I'd worried about that too. I'm so glad you liked this, and thank you for the extra star. As usual, it has special meaning coming from you.

Lovely piece, MissMerri. "There is a grief as fathomless as sky that fills the heart and penetrates the soul." is known to many and the reminder of light in the darkest of clouds is often the only way that we make it through.

This is exquisite.
Reads well and flows well.
Makes sense and is beyond grace and beauty.
It can be applied to many losses.
One of your best.
