This is a very nice sonnet and you have presented it very well. It might've been helpful. Heard you used a bit lighter text color on the background that you chose for people who have difficulty with her vision. Other than that I see no problem with it. Patricia.

Encore! (Oh wait--this is an encore post!) I have no clue how I could have missed this the first time around... It is an exquisite example of a Spenserian Sonnet (as evidenced by the Seal of Quality you earned!)

The iambic pentameter in this is flawless. What a joy to read aloud and truly "feel" the beat of the words.

Bravo poetess. Six stars is all I have. Still, they are yours!

Karenina

Thank you so much, Karen. I found the painting by a Russian artist Michael Cheval a perfect match for the topic. Look at the expression on her face while he looks so smitten - a typical scenario in the land of unrequited love (lol).

Wow! Congratulations on your win and Seal of Quality! Thanks for re-promoting so we could enjoy your beautifully constructed sonnet with such great metaphors of "blinding sun" and "silver lyre"!

This sonnet has skillfully captured the language of Shakespeare. It conveys the frustration of a women disappointed by what she trusted to be love. I feel the frustration of women of the time who had little control of their lives.

I've yet to conquer the sonnet, yeltel, but I believe you have, in spades! Thus, there's no surprise that you won the contest.

Your story of unrequited love is beautifully written, and your rhyming is perfection. You've used very nice alliteration (lyre, legacy, love) to promote the flow of your well chosen words. Your artwork is a perfect enhancement to your words.

Thank you for sharing you talent! Take care. Alana

Ooooooi love this...it reminds me of the film The Holiday....unrequited love the walking wounded..the handicapped without a great parking space.
But you say it so deliciously
And sharp the quill that pierced my very depth...I love that line
God bless
