Great poem, very true and very ironic. It's a shame that things have to be this way, well they don't but no one's taking the proper stand to prevent and that is exactly what is needed. Once again, great poem, keep it up.

Dear Mike,

It seems you have no faith in the current Pakistani regime. Perhaps you are remembering the bumbling of the past. Like supporting the Taliban against the Russians. We spin like an eccentric top, supporting those who will turn on us in the future. Interesting poem.

Warm regards,

Winslow

No I have faith, but the president I believe is doing the right thing, but needless to say this has created a backlash and opposition has gotten in. It is the Talaban-style militants making overatures to the newly elected parties that have me concerned. I know the president has held power here and there, but I haven't necessarily seen this as a bad thing. I just hope remembering history and coomon sense pervails. Well, we tend to do the right thing, countries take our aid, then decry us as the problem, this too go on in Pakistan. In short they need our help and my feeling is by reading between the line, also provide balance becaus of countries like Iran. Thank you very much for the compliments and this review.

Hullo Mike K2 ....

This is a surprising piece of writing in that you project yourself into the mind-set of those over in Pakistan. Your lengthy notes are most informative and you bring out several points which may not always be given a second thought by those who do not think deeply about such things.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from .... Nanette Mary.

I agree with you point of view, like the poem and even more the notes, my hope of humanity changing is very slim, and yet we must deal with the present, not an easy task ....

I agreee with your statement, staying the same is a lot better then backsliding and keeping thoughts towards future ideals maybe will prevent this. Thank you very much for your compliments and this review.

Terrorism seems to be everywhere these days. Until it's put down permanently, there will be wars and more wars. Your notes are very accurate about our past history and also about the trouble between the Iraelis and Pakistan. Does Pakistan really want peace? Your poem gives the reader a lot to think about. Great job! V.A.

You mean Palistinians, honestly those that do are in the minority and for the others it is a delaying tactic. I thank you for your compliments and tis review.

Very good social criticism, but until I read the author's notes I could not contextualize it (because there are so many wars going on in the world.) Pakistan, an American ally, was one of only three countries in the world to recognize the Taliban regime in Afghanistan as legitimate (the other two, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, were also American allies.) The poem flows well and makes its point well. My one major comment is this--Is there some way you can contextualize the poem so the reader knows whereof you write? I read it about the American response to the Iraqi war until the author's notes, so I had a very skewed idea of what you wanted to say until then. This is a very good message and it needs to be put in the best transmission to the reader possible. If you do decide to revise, let me know and I shall re-review.

Well, if they recognized the Taliban, there in their county now. My main concern with Pakistan is that their election is because of their presidents action, which to me is effective and sent them back over to Afganistan. I really hope that those opposition parties don't decide to do business with the militants. I hope a recollection of history and common sense pervails. Thank you very much for this review and the compliments.

Oh, any idea if this recognition was before or after the current president took power. He really has seemed to hot up on that group.

I believe the recognition of the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan was before the current Pakistani administration took power.

I had the feeling, hence some of the measures that were taken. I know a few Pakistani's and they have my prayers as they have been nice people.

I consider myself pretty ignorant to political issues (I know, shameful), however, your poem still struck some chords in me. I had different countries in my mind as I read your poem than from what you explained in your author notes, but I think it's great that your poem is universal and applicable to multiple scenarios.
My favorite verse: We want to talk to you, since you are stated peace champs. We Promise. We'll use another country for our terrorist camps.
Another favorite line: We will be good and appear to be helping you...

Thanks for your insight through your poetry.

You would not be incorrect for thinking of other countries. Iraq trys to make their peace an all inclusive thing and at times, that helps to continue the problems. Thank you for sharing with me your favorite lines, the compliments and this review. Mike

Excellent commentary. Well done! This is a very good piece--you should get it published. I think the author notes are as good or better than the poem. Two thumbs up to you!

Great poem with a great message about peace. The world is falling apart, and these sentiments are much needed nowadays. I hope these ideals will one day really drive international politics

The ideals tend to come and go with the changing of political realities. The world will always fall apart, but I always pray that we catch it with the minium of sacrifice. I really love your words in this review and thank you for the compliments.
