This was a good read. Very mysterious all through. Still not sure where it ended up. Looks like we don't know who wrote it, either. Good luck in the contest.

This was excellent and sweet. The main character speaks with wisdom and power. The story is bittersweet . At long las the "catches up" with her but it's at the expense of losing what he has now. . good luck in the contest

Interesting sequel. I have no idea what story this sequel was written for, but I'm sure we will find out after the contest. It is touching and well done. I wish you the best in the contest.

This is very well written and tells an interesting story. I must admit I have no idea what this is a sequel to, but it is a good story on its own. His family is losing him, but he is being found by the one he didn't want to be separated from.

What a really engrossing story! I was captivated from the start, fully experiencing this old man's world, his sense of loneliness and loss. Then the fear that overtook him. This was magic story-telling because I wanted to know more. I love the dream-like sequence and the voices fading in and out. And your last curtailed sentence - superb! I noticed one small edit: para starting "After all...inevitabl(y). Well done for this! A strong entry. Good luck! Debbie

I haven't read the first story but very much enjoyed yours.makes me wonder if there really was an intruder... or was it just a sick old man with an ailment... or did he fall and actually hit his head?
I need a sequel to the sequel. Great job and good luck in the contest.

What a romantic tale. You developed the story with the longing for a deceased partner, described the pining and monotony of waiting to be reunited, and then created an event that eventually allowed him to reach his goal, even though his child was trying to bring him back. Powerful.

I don't know how to evaluate the story in relation to the contest. Because I don't know the first story or how it relates. Your story is well written. You set a good stage for suspense. I assume in the first story, a spouse has died. But I don't the issues or the details.

I am not sure in this sequel whether the man died or if somehow he woke up and she is still alive. It could be a great sequel. I just don't know.

I realize this doesn't help much, but good luck in the contest. Terry.

Thank you so much, Terry. I think it's pretty clear that he he dies at the end of this sequel. If to hear is not clear, then I have failed. Thanks again. :)))

Yeah, I get that. and it makes sense, but not knowing the details of what happened to her sort of leaves the door open.

I don't think the issue was with your story, but rather how it related to the contest of being a sequel without knowing what happened to her.

Maybe the first story left her death ambiguous. And maybe he wakes up and she is still alive.

LOL, and it could be this old guy reader just getting wrong. Terry.

This made me sad to read as I know some older men like this. Sitting in the chair watching the world go by without them, choosing that one emotion over and over when their loved one would have wanted them to get up out of their chair and go outside to take a walk or help another to lift spirits. As a bystander, one goes back and forth and what end result they desire for the suffering of the person who longs, and brings the suffering to all who speak to them. I was relieved the character in the story found peace, though I hoped that peace would come through choices to engage and grow but peace through death is also peace.

Well written and timely for the world we live in where sadness is crammed down our throats with every headline. I wish everyone could comfortably turn off news for a week (or forever) and not miss it. We are a country addicted to drama and strife. Most people can NOT turn it off.

There were a few minor spelling issues which a good run through spell check will get straight.
