Great presentation in a poetic mode of a historical literary personality. Loved the explanation and references. When I read the poem, memories of TW's Play:Street Car Named Desire," which I had read a long time ago came vividly alive. Thanks for the beautiful poem.

Comment from Loren .
Impressive. Next to Thornton Wilder and his play Our Town, Tennessee Williams is one of my favorite writers. I am still enthralled as to how he was able to flesh out his characters so well that you immediately identified and cared about them. This is so well written and obviously researched with an open and admiring mind. Loren

Thank you so much for this exceptional review for which I'm so grateful, Loren! I've also taken on board your admiration for Thornton Wilder and I remember now seeing the play, Our Town, whilst at school. Maybe I could take a look at that one at some stage. Could I ask if you had any payment for this review because I don't really understand what happens after the 3 day expiry? But thank you again. Your encouraging words mean a lot to me. Debbie

It paid two cents. But don?t worry about it. I enjoyed the read. A favorite quote from Our Town. The scene is of a young lady who has just passed and is speaking from the graveyard. Does anyone really know?really know how lucky they are to be alive, while alive? This is paraphrased but the meaning is profound.

Ohhh! One of my all-time favorites! Even in high school, I could recognize and appreciate his talents. His characters were so HAUNTING and true-to-(saddest)-life. You've drawn him so beautifully here, and explained what drove him to write, and, sadly, eventually, to deteriorate.
Another masterpiece as far as meter and rhyme. He would have loved this poem.

Hi Elle, did you miss the cut-off? You're so kind with your wonderful review. Thank you very much. He certainly had his share of demons, this one. But there again I'm beginning to think they all do: alcohol, drugs and madness the perfect recipe for artistic fame. Think I'm gonna have to pick one ...oh, I've already got the last:)) Thanks again, Debbie

A beautifully written poetic biography on Tennessee Williams. Complimenting each other, both rhyme and rhythm help to create a smooth-flowing and easy read. Your poem, along with accompanied explanation, inspires me to read more on Tennessee Williams. Very nicely done!

Hi Debbie,
This is a good rhyming biography of Tennessee Williams. Many writers use life experiences in their writing. It is so sad that so many talented people lost their talent and/or their lives to drugs.
In the first line child should be childhood.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Enjoy the rest of the week.

Thank you, Joan, for your kind review and thoughts, for which I'm very grateful! I actually wanted 'child' in the first line (also fitting in with the meter) but I appreciate your suggestion. Take care Debbie

Don't mention it, Debbie.

Debbie, your is extremely well written. The research you put in and presented to the reader is also presented well. But the interesting thing is how a girl living in England can write so convincingly about a Son of the South in the USA. Excellent work. Terry.

Thank you, once again. You've made it an inspiring mission to dig deeper and share not only the great writing of many writers-- Your research is impeccable and you bring forward the "building blocks" of their often troubled lives that give us greater insight into how they came to influence the world with their poems or pays or songs...
I knew nothing of the life of Tennessee Williams. It is laced with the tragedy of a father who could not be won over, his health issues, as well as the manner his homosexuality affected him.
I could go on forever, but time is a "crunch" today and I so wanted to get this six-star review posted!

I knew very little about Tennessee Williams until I read this very interesting and informative piece of poetry. Your notes also help me to understand his life better too. Excellent imagery and alliteration makes this poem even better. I wish I had a six for you!

What a fantastic write. And one that should serve as inspiration for all we wannabe writers. I wasn't aware of the many hurdles Tennesee Williams had to overcome. Thank you, Debbie for such an informative post.
