I still play their greatest hits on the Fourth of July during our cookout. It wouldn't be summer without it. What a wonderfully written poem. Best of luck with your writing!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Those were the days! Easy living. Australians flocked to beaches with trannies, beat-up jalopy, girls loving the music and the Beach Boys were the top group. Hangin' Five I think was one of their songs. You have done a great job with your story/poem. I was just married in 1964, so those Were the days. Blessings, K xx

a powerful and moving tribute to a great American band and a great period in music history. In my opinion the 60's had some of the greatest music ever written - from the Beattles, the Stones, the Who, MOTOWN, Great Jazz as well as some great classical music. In many ways we are still living in the shadows of that period.

Thank you so much again! I'm delighted the verse brought back memories for you. They were amazing and, despite the brothers' rough background, managed to inject so much happiness into their music and our lives. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Debbie

Cleverly written bio in poetry for the Beach Boys. I've never seen them personally, but living in the South, I've certainly heard their music and had friends who were addicted to it!

Debbie.
I read this a few days ago and I don't know why I didn't respond. You provided us a phenomenal poem regarding The Beach Boys highlighting and intertwining many of there hits.
I saw them in Atlantic City, must be 40 years ago on July 4th.
They are in my top 10 groups/performers.
Again, fantastic post!
Cheers,
John

Thank you for the video .I enjoyed listening to it .I am not familiar with their music .In India Beatles were a big hit .So was Cliff Richards...Jim Reeves ... It was those days western music was popular only among a niche group of youngsters..
The poem told the story of Beach Boys travel through the realm of music...

I remember Brian Wilson blamed the Beatles for losing their popularity when Pet Sounds came out at the same time as Sergent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band.
I love the Beach Boys as well as the Beatles.
I always thought there was room for both bands. You chronicled the songs from the Beach Boys very well.
California Girls will always be my favorite song!

You're welcome, Debbie.
Videos of the Beach Boys are on YouTube as well.
My preference is to listen to their music.
Thanks for reminding me of how I loved their music.

Comment from June Sargent
I remember the turbulent '60's and the music of both the Beach Boys and the Beatles. They were as different as apples and oranges and their songs have lived on through 6 decade's respectively. Now our grandsons are enjoying the California vibes as well as the music from across the pond. Lovely bit of nostalgia here.

Great harmonies, fun lyrics and bright, catchy tunes... what's not to like? Terrifically researched and delightfully penned, as usual from you, Debbie. Thanks for bringing memories of lovely sunny days as a young'un flooding back :)
